Thala_0710

International Debutant
Pre-1970

Hobbs
Hutton
Bradman
Hammond
Headley
Sobers
Ames
Miller
O Reilly
Barnes
Trueman

You can't really include Trueman but not Barnes

just for reference, this team will outscore the post 1970 team, and likely beat them too.
Yeah could include him and WG Grace, I generally don't go there but.

Don't pick them, because I find it difficult to compare them properly to the guys that came after them.
If other's don't, one ought to see a lot more of WG Grace on all time XIs of various kinds.

Wanted Miller but with Sobers, he kinda is redundant there. Think Davidson's bowling is close enough to Trueman for his 24 avg to beat.
My bowling would be, in order

Barnes
Trueman
Miller
O Reilly
Sobers

pretty satisfied with that I think

Since people love to say the modern era began in the 70’s.

My premodern XI

Hobbs
Sutcliffe
Bradman*
Hammond
Barrington
Sobers
Ames+
Davidson
Lindwall
O’Reilly
Trueman
Barnes!!!! The 2 greatest bowlers pre-70s are near unquestionably Barnes and O’Reilly. Barnes most probably takes the 1st spot ahead of Tiger or tied at very best. And no one really loves O’Reilly more than me.

Think Rhodes probably should make the 3rd team
