ESPN has a round table interview with Haydos, Steyn and Shaun Pollock.

Was going well before Matty called Lyon, Australia's 2nd best ever spinner.

Nice convo though.

I think it is unlikely Herbie Taylor, Dudley Nourse and Mike Procter will ever be inducted from SA. Just get the feeling from a political context which is sad.
The original list came out in 1999 with 50 names. Only former players were considered. The judges were Bradman, Bird, Cowdrey and Sobers, plus the nine current Test captains. 41 of the 50 were from England, Australia and West Indies. There were two South Africans: Barry Richards and Graeme Pollock.

By 2018 the number of male cricketers in the Hall of Fame had risen to 80. Virtually the same proportion (81%) were from England, Australia and West Indies. There were still only the two South Africans.

With today's new inductees there are now 107 male cricketers. 69% are from England, Australia and West Indies. There are 9 South Africans , the same number as India. The 2021 panel seemed more interested in old players, adding Faulkner as well as Noble, McCabe, Constantine and Mankad, along with the usual more recent names. Still only retired men are eligible. Some of the dates on the ICC website showing when cricketers were inducted are incorrect.

Notable players still missing include:

Shrewsbury, Tom Richardson, Ranjitsinhji, Tate, Evans
Blackham, CTB Turner, Trumble, Hill, Macartney, Oldfield
Herbie Taylor, Mitchell, Nourse, Tayfield, Barlow, Procter
Donnelly, Bert Sutcliffe, John Reid
Merchant, Hazare, Gupte, Chandrasekhar, Prasanna
Fazal Mahmood, Mushtaq Mohammad, Majid Khan, Inzamam, Saqlain Mushtaq

The older the player, the less likely they now are to be inducted.

Chandra not being in but Bedi being in seems pretty wild, given how often they’re grouped together.

O Reilly and Grimmett he wouldn't have seen, so it's fine really.
Yeah, but that doesn't mean that he shouldn't have known who came before him
Definitely should've known about the bloke in the comm box in beige or off white who said weird things like Maaaavelous and choo for chwenty choo.
