Really disappointing losses for ZCC and FHK yesterday. Both cases we bowled well but without luck, ended up crumbling under massive run chases. We were the better teams on paper and didn't tinker around with orders much, just not our day.

For ZCC this probably locks in our relegation to Div 2, and for FHK it puts a spanner in the works in our attempt at promoting out of Div 3

A three match SOD series between the two sides lead to a comprehensive 3-0 victory for the Division 3 FHK team, which was a bit shocking. They did have home advantage for the series and managed to pull out Lester Shum from retirement for two of those matches, but you'd still expect ZCC to pull out a win in at least one of those matches. ZCC is hosting a U25 SOD game today, let's see if they can pick up a win here.

ZCC are out of the Cup, and so have decided to part ways with senior middle order batter Shabadpreet Samra, 22 year old Chamath Jayetileke taking his spot in the batting lineup. FHK are still alive in the Cup - hope we pick up a win tomorrow to help wipe out the taste of yesterday's defeat!

Reward for a couple of defensive mainstays with regard to my teams. In minnow-bashing his way to 179*, Afzaal ul-Haq hit two 6s. By doing so, he doubled his career tally in competitive SODs, this being his 81st match. While his SR remains under 70, he is, in fairness, scoring a fair lot quicker these days.

Coming off a crucial 69 in a hard-fought Cup win, Richard Simmonds has celebrated by peeling off a couple of unbeaten hundreds, off 163 and 145 balls respectively, to take his career tally to 36 centuries. It'll be interesting to see which of him and Ibrahim Zahid (30 tons) finish up first on the AXI century list by the time they leave.

Time for a little revamp: here's the ins and outs for the main team's first XI:

InOut
Reg South: 22yo high potential new ball offie + good fielderSteve Ludlow: 30yo RF, the sole remaining member of AXI's starting XXII
Abrar Habib: 21yo dour, late-blooming opening batMunashe Mncwabe: 33yo bat with 65 caps for RSA
Tharaka Sellamuttu: 20yo heralded youth batting talent, unwaveringly accurate purveyors of slow-mediums, + good fielderOscar Cousins: 29yo journeyman aggressive bat, Economical bowler of dog****, + good fielder; OR Nick Smith: 28yo club legend of a slogger

Reg South has already forced his way into the side, but Ludlow will remain for some time in the squad as backup pacer to Wilde, with a view towards him taking up a coaching position. Mncwabe has left AXI with immediate effect, opening up a spot for either Habib or Sellamuttu each game (and giving the club time to deliberate who to keep of Cousins and Smith).

Chips Mwitu's magical mystery tour of the Stumped Cup continues. Even if a suspected match fixer runs out our designated Captain/Botham/finisher we will Chase whatever is put in front of us.

That's a wild chase. (But I don't think the guy who scored 111 off 68 was match-fixing tbh.)

Got a draw that is way too easy for this stage of the cup (I think)? How does this cup actually work?
Totally random, which sux sometimes for established teams who can get a tough draw early, but is great for newer teams who can ride some good luck into mid season. Pros and cons.

My next opponent is still running the default set up of everyone but the no. 11 keeper-captain bowls. Don't know if its because it's a new user or really good luck in the draw

What on earth is my 16-year-old wrist spinner trainee supposed to do with his effort bowler attribute? Break legs!?
