CWC3 games underway!

The Astronaut's batting hasn't quite clicked today vs FHK. Joshua Wong has been quick and hostile on the typical pacy 5DNOL wicket. Not much wear so should be good to bat on, but #RunsOnTheBoard is always a factor.

ZCC's batting has come together excellently at the mining inc stadium, where the pitch is remarkably similar to the one at 5DNOL. Ahsan with a lovely 76, and Ghous Ghani with his first ever 50 for ZCC. Should finish with well over 200, and we should hopefully defend that.

And quickly around the grounds, it looks like Jura CC, GG CC and Moooo are all on track to post competitive targets batting first. Winton CC vs ataraXIa could be the game to watch - the hosts started well on a seamer friendly deck but have lost their way a bit towards the end. Match well poised atm.

What a chase by Dynamo Morpork! 228 was always steep ask, especially playing away from home, but they went hard at it from the get go. Menno Fouche with 57 off just 51. and three of the top 4 struck at more than a run-a-ball. They did keep losing wickets tho, and when they lost their 6 with the score at 159 things were looking dicey. But Bungay (36*) and Hollioake (35*) finished the chase off with the largest partnership of the innings - 72 runs in 78 balls for the 7th wicket. Great effort.

Morpork and FHK were the only teams to successfully chase down their targets this round, FHK cruising to a 9-wicket win over the Astronauts thanks to 60 from Agnes Chow and 42* from young Tam Tak-chi. They're now both equal on points and separated only by NRR. With 5 games to go and an 11 point lead on 3rd place, they both are strong contenders for direct entry into the semi-finals.

The teams from 3-5 all successfully defended their targets this round, while 7th placed Winton CC pulled off a thrilling 9-run win at home over 6th placed ataraXIa to narrow the gap between the two sides. The final spot in the play-offs is still well and truly up for grabs!

Played two Dev friendlies vs Winton CC with similar results, losing by 9 and 12 runs respectively despite gun Shawn Dee knocks (79 (96) + 85 (61)).
Seriously impressive knock today from Shawn Dee and some very close games - today a surprisingly high-scoring game on what was a moist pitch even if slightly less treacherous then the pitches usually laid out at Winton.

Clinical by the ZCC Dev boys to start off our season! Madani scored a career best 79 and Grubs hit a solid 66 in what should be his final Dev innings, laying the platform for a massive 259/6 on a good batting deck away from home.

Bit of a dry surface but that didn't stop new signing and former WCC boy Adam Simons taking 2 wickets in the first over! 2-2 became 36-7 and ended as 80 a/o. Wickets all round, with 3 to Taufeeq Bashir. An absolute paddling, and we only had 6k in ratings on them. Excellent stuff.

He made his DEV debut today and grabbed 5 for 21(7.1 overs). An impressive bowling performance as the other team’s batting succumbed to the pressure built and Sadiq’s genius bowling.

The wear on the wicket was 1 and the wind was 32, yet this finger spinner wrecked havoc.
The speed of the wicket was at 20 though and I somehow felt that Sadiq’s pace of his deliveries played a big factor here. His average speed was 53.3 mph.

Surprising two for two today, the Morpork bowlers did very well to restrict a competent Waldron Wanderers team to 146 despite their opener making 84, and then leg-spinner Darren Hollioake saved the innings that had crashed to 60 for five. Schmaltzberg's bowlers did not do as well, giving up 227 for seven with a massive third-wicket stand for the opponents, but Armand Bernstein finally showed his prodigious talents with a well composed 87 and Cees Steenkamp smashed a vital 47 to keep the run rate up. With just three runs to get, Schmaltzberg had two batters out bowled, but Khubisa saw out the over so that Waldo van der Westhuizen could back up his four-wicket-haul with hitting the winning runs.

First division 2 game, first game of the season, first ball of the match, Rusty smacks a 6. Hopefully that bodes well for him hitting runs again. :) Lost by 6 wickets, but not really concerned, IGT is what matters.

GG CC cracks sub-200 in the world rankings for the first time.
The GG faithful are jubilant...

The capacity of the ground is now 10K; an upgrade from 5500.

Yea ZCC are playing the U24s only. No one older than 23.

We should be able to chase around 250, let's see.

Maurits Grobbelaar is playing perhaps his last game for ZCC today, and he's also the leading run scorer in the history of ZCC vs TMO fixtures. Will be nice if he can sign off with a good innings.

Fingers crossed on Grobeelaar going out (pun not intended, hope he remains not out) on a high

TMOs end on 205/9. Good 63 from Prabath Margenout and a useful 43 from Nathan Reid up top. Former WCC boy Adam Simons continues his impressive run in ZCC colours with 4/51.

We should chase this down. Pitch is good to bat on and we've got Shah-boss, Shkorer and Yattack in the Top 5.

It is consistent. Can chase big totals but cannot bat first and put big totals up. Lose wickets at bad times. Why I chose to bat first, see what the new lineup could do. Disappointing really. The bowling is normally decent. But needs scoreboard pressure.

Maybe you need more stamina in your Top 4, so that they can bat deep and set a platform. If they're getting starts and then slowing down/getting out due to exhaustion it just kills your momentum. Reid and Shree aren't quite fit enough yet, and you got unlucky that Thundayal got run out.
