Herath by a mile. If conditions were supportive he knew how to get batsmen out, good or bad against spin. For MacGill conditions didn't matter. He was god - awful against good players of spin, even after being given square turners.

He would struggle to make a Ranji side, given that at Ranji level, there are some players who better even the national level players, when it comes to playing spin (they don't make the side because they suck against pace). Not only India, it is the case in Sri Lanka too. Any one could remember Roshen Silva? His technique was dissected and was destroyed by Cummins, but he played Ashwin and Jadeja like a pro on their home turf.
