Okay, just so that everyone knows, when you create a Poll, the actual post appears while you enter all the Poll details (so Poll appears a couple of minutes after the Post) :)

Chandrasekhar definitely.

SR of 64 compared to 70-80 for the rest clinches it for me.

The man bowled with an arm weakened by polio, and picked up his wickets at 4.3 wickets per match and a SR of 65 balls per wicket.

Underwood picked up 3.4 wickets per match and at a SR of 73 balls per wicket.

Sorry for being so lazy but where does Underwood in wickets/match?

I voted Underwood as I didn't realise he was that good until I dug up the stats (I only saw him play post WSC)

I also found it very interesting that India had such a good spin quartet of Bedi, Chandrasekhar, Prasanna, and Venkat (who didn't make this poll as his average was > 35). During 1966-85, they captured 801 Test wickets, which almost rivals the WI pace quartet of Andy Roberts, Michael Holding, Malcom Marshall and Joel Garner who took 843 wkts during the same period.

I will go with Underwood. BTW why do we need a spinner ne way? Just for the sake of balance? I think we could have squeezed in another paceman (one who could perform in the Subcontinent esp.). Thats just my opinion.

I voted for Underwood - a totally unique bowler, but it would depend on conditions. If it came to a finger spinner I would have Bedi just ahead of Gibbs.

I know the WI did it without a spinner, but that doesn't mean its the optimum way of doing it :).

My thoughts exactly but I was overruled :(

I think Border and Sobers should be at # 5 and # 6 and they can offer a spin option to back-up Marshall, Lillee, Hadlee and Imran.
