He said before the WC he was retiring from ODIs.
he has captained at every level but has he captained well????Have looked it up and turns out I'm wrong, but of course. Amla has captained at just about every level, including SA under-19s and the Dolphins. Pretty much settles it for mine. Only thing barring him is if they want to have the same captain for ODIs and T20s, assuming Amla continues not to play T20.
didn't find him a great captain against a not so great Pakistan side on the roads of DubaiWhy do so many people have the impression that Botha is a 'smart' cricketer. I'd like to be proven wrong but I haven't seem him do a lot of intelligent things on the field tbh. When he bats he's decent but he plays alot of risky shots which don't come off all the time. Haven't seen him captain that much though.
fetched them a seried in australia though. was pretty good from memory.Botha's captaincy suck monkey balls tbh. Hated his captaincy vs Pak.
Yeah that's the only real big series where he stood out. Although some of it may have to do with him bowling well and pretty much most things he tried worked out at the time. Like Albie Morkel becoming Lance Klusner for that 1 series...fetched them a seried in australia though. was pretty good from memory.
Because he is a pretty limited see crap cricketer so they use words like smart to make you seem more useful than you are. Michael Yardy was also referred to as a smart cricketer during the WC. That's probably a bit harsh on Botha but I'm so over the Choketeas now that most of the guys Botha included should never play for the national side again. Why do so many people have the impression that Botha is a 'smart' cricketer. Unless I'm missing something, he hasn't even done that.AB recently said he doesn't even enjoy captaining his domestic side I believe.
