South Africa team selection

Kenneth Viljoen

International Vice-Captain
Miller is really such a special player for us. Who is most like him coming through now?
A left hand bat in the middle order and can finish innings at a high SR ?

I would say Dian Forrester who finished as the 3rd highest run scorer in the domestic one day cup just behind Brevis.

Rickelton is the one who keeps surprising me. Always thought of him as a big hitter, but seems much more of a steady player.
We've seen he is capable in the SA20 and IPL but we are waiting still for that absolute signature innings he is known for. Compared to QdK and in many ways they do have that frailty v off-spin at times (particularly early in their innings).

GRAB

State Vice-Captain
Not surprised at all. Off the record comments I heard was that local umpires were warned against calling him after his first suspension... Manack's action isn't too clean either, though it's less blatant...

Big blow , we don't have a lot of off spinners in the country at the moment, think the next best ODI offie is Imran Manack of Boland

Schalk Engelbrecht seemingly next Right-arm off-spinner in line if you go by SA A selection but isn't even contracted professionally.

Agree on Manack's action @GRAB - I think there is bigger kink at the elbow for him.

SOS for Simon Harmer for the Pak and Ind tests if necessary.

Stefan9

International Regular
In sa t20 hes smashed it around his technique is good quicker scorer than bavuma.
He has played the odd decent innings but he doesn't clear the boundary. So my point about ability to clear the boundary stands. Also bavuma is the captain without that he probably doesn't make the side either.

Interesting looking at last 2 years ODI SRs

Interesting stats but does backup my point if they are looking for guys who can clear the boundary. Kyle has one six in 162 balls.

For sure. Was just more perception thing than anything. I think Kyle V has game to hit 6s & can score quickly. But is definitely behind a Brevis and Stubbs in full flow.

He played a great finishers knock against Pakistan before the Champs Trophy.
