South Africa team selection

Some interesting calls for me. No more Reeza in T20Is? Then why is Rassie in that squad but not the ODI team? Also Linde should be in both these squads. I suppose Mulder being in the ODI team and Markram and maybe Brevis being there to bowl a few does make some sense but I’d still have him there over Muths!

I wonder if they feel they need experience for the T20 WC next year. And maybe they thinking he won't be around for 2027 so let's look at all the options.

Corbin now officially jumped Gerald.

Bavuma ODIs and Rassie T20s is irritating but they moving in the right direction with no Reeza in T20s.

Pren in both squads too.

Rubin maybe unlucky.

Someone needs to take Coetzee to one corner and have a word with him , all this T20 stuff is hampering his development..

He was one of our best players at the 2023 WC , he needs to get his body used to bowling red ball spells and he has the rep to get a County deal

Why no Rassie in ODI's?

Shukri Conrad: "The immediate focus is the T20 World Cup. Rassie is very much in contention for that. He gives you the option of either batting at the top or at 3. He is great in a leadership position.

With the 50-over format, because I have got a bit more time (I am certainly not gonna rule Rassie or any of the older guys out), it gives me a chance to blood some of the younger players and see how they develop. Post the T20 World Cup we will probably be in a better position to decide on guys like Rassie and David etc."

Coetzee?

Shukri Conrad: "There is only so many bowlers you can select in a squad. The player we have selected I believe are ahead of Gerald in the pecking order.

In the 50-over format I want to try and get many all-rounders in the squad and you cannot ignore what Corbin Bosch has done over the last couple of months. He has banged the door down.

Gerald sits behind the guys selected. It is not the end of the road for him. We still have a few months to go and there will be opportunities for Gerald to stake a claim."

Coetzee can be expensive, but he has the X factor, if fit he would always be in my test and odi squads,

What is it with the names of the SA Franchises? I seem to get lost of what they get called from competition to competition?

Well done our older lads for comprehensively beating Australia.. Another AB ton. Tahir reverse ageing, looks younger than when he was playing for the main side :laugh:
Aaron Phangiso has had a great tournament too, his figures are ridiculously good turned himself into Wilfred Rhodes lol

Are you referring to the provincial or SA20 franchises?
The provincial ones that SeamUP posted at the top of this page. I guess it must be a sponsorship thing. The only one I can figure out in terms of location is WSB Western Province. The other ones make no sense. Are DP World Lions Joburg. I was aware that the t20 franchises are essentially SA Divisions of IPL teams having been brought out by the behemoths.

Most provincial sides in SA for branding reasons like to use specific names in lots of cases in animals. Western Province the only real exception.

Below is a list of cricket teams.

Lions : Joburg
Titans : Pretoria
Dolphins : Durban
Potchefstroom: Dragons
Port Elizabeth: Warriors
Pieter Maritzburg: Tuskers
Nelspruit: Rhinos
Limpopo:Impala's
Bloemfontein:Eagles
George : badgers
East London:Linyathi
Benoni:Storm
Paarl:Rocks
Cape Town:Western Province
