I would argue the same with Ganguly... Sanga only had Jayasuriya to cover up the SR... Ind had Tendulkar Sehwag Yuvraj etc... So it affected the team lessAlso have read that Sanga back then was worse than his stats, especially SR. Apparently had a big problem accelerating as needed and killed team momentum many a times.
No, Himannv is not my sole source on this.
Doesn't it means it suited Ganguly's style of play significantly more as well?I would argue the same with Ganguly... Sanga only had Jayasuriya to cover up the SR... Ind had Tendulkar Sehwag Yuvraj etc... So it affected the team less
He definitely was... Top 5 ish here for meLate 1990s Ganguly was one of the best

As in your ass.As in?
Who invited you hereAs in your ass.
As in the team suited his playing style more than Sanga's did his. You need one grinder alongside dashers. I will also say, to an extent, I don't find ODI stats the most reliable, but that's a different argument. Here, my main argument really is they have close stats as it is, but there peaks were in significantly different eras.As in?
Yeah but it's just the peak... And their peak numbers are clearly different too... They're again close by era adjustment...As in the team suited his playing style more than Sanga's did his. 1 run avg and 5 SR, SR boost especially for eras is on the smaller side I feel.Yeah but it's just the peak... And their peak numbers are clearly different too... They're again close by era adjustment...
My point is against the top teams + the WCs, Sanga is clearly better... So I don't see how Ganguly could be said to be comfortably better
If you're comparing peaks, compare only the peak numbers which are about 8 run avg and 10 SR1 run avg and 5 SR, SR boost especially for eras is on the smaller side I feel.
He was, I agree. But so was Ganguly, to the point he got dropped in 2005. He debuted in 92 as well but couldn't find a place till 2006. So sanga has 3 years of longevity on him tooMy point is really that I feel Sanga was a dud before 2010s, so 2/3 of his career. Ganguly less than half. And I think I don't take ODI stats that much on face value but look at reputation and such relatively more. Idk, I just don't find them that useful often.
Doesn't that mean around equal peaks but much better post peak career. If you're comparing peaks, compare only the peak numbers which are about 8 run avg and 10 SR

2015 WC phase?I don't think Sangakkara ever had a phase when he was seen as one of the top 3 ODI batsmen. Ganguly did.
You could argue early 2010s for Sanga too... But I'd not have either one tbh... Tendulkar, Bevan and Anwar were better in the late 90s...and I'd take Jayasuriya over him tooI don't think Sangakkara ever had a phase when he was seen as one of the top 3 ODI batsmen. Ganguly did.
Not anymore than say Shakib in 2019 world cup.2015 WC phase?
Can't really agree with that. That was always Tendulkar and Sehwag later on. Ganguly was always more of the guy who planned to bat long, like early career Rohit wasODI cricket is really far less about raw stats. Ganguly was a set-the-tone kind of opener
