Shortened tours

With the way that tours are organised these days it should be little wonder that away teams perform poorly on tour.

It used to be that sides would get a good hit out before playing the serious matches. Now an away team might get a couple of 3 day games before the first test to aclimatise. It is hardly a good preparation.

The necessity to play so many tests and one day games in a shorter amount of time is the cause of it. Gone are the days when Australia would go to England for a 6-7 month tour and vice versa.

It seems that you need to be a champion team to overcome this problem.

cricket is too professional now to be doing tours like that. players have wives and children and want to spend more time at home than they already do. Aeroplanes have a lot to do with no tours last 6 months anymore. Remember that is takes a solid 6 or 7 weeks to get there and the same to get back.
