Can't believe this was ever a thing. Anyway, I wanted to dig out some Root stats. Since the start of 2021 Root has played 61 of his 158 test matches and has 22 of his 39 test tons at an average of 62.17. He has got 17 unconverted 50s at this time, when in comparison he had scored 49 unconverted 50s in that previous period (from debut up until the end of 2020) and scored 17 of his test tons for an average of 47 or so. Now, it is hardly that he wasn't comfortably above average then, but the last 61 tests are something really special.

I’ve seen better. Also I think you may have confused his SR (62.17) with his average (56.63) during this period.

Apols, my eyesight is not so good these days. I did recently have a cataract operation. Even so, over a sustained period the number of tons per match is outstanding when it was clearly an issue for him to convert before.
