A solid first innings from the Aussies with three test debuts in North, Symonds and stand in keeper North, Gilchrist out with a cold. North scored his maiden test ton in a great start to his career while Symonds and Haddin weren't impressive. The Pakistan bowlers spread the wickets around meaning bad signs for the Aussies. Ponting put on a half century while others had trouble scoring.

The Aussies would spread the wickets around as two spin bowlers helped themselves to wickets on a spin comforting pitch. Symonds was surprisingly good with two wickets, allthough was overused. Saeed Anwar was a thorn along with Younis Khan, but a solid bowling effort.

A blow for the Aussies as Hayden went down with a fractured toe, but continued his innings to go at 154. He will miss three weeks though. Symonds and Langer were very good as Symonds put up a good showing, but Haddin did nothing to give himself a spot in the test team. Raza demolished us and will be trouble in the second test, but 417 sets a good total, but can the bowlers handle it?

The bowlers didn't go too well, a bonus was as centurian in the first Anwar was dismissed early. Khan went on though to make a huge unbeaten total as Warne and MacGill were hit. Too many overs again by the spinners, and Lee should have been given more overs instead of Warne.

Pakistan won by 3 wickets
Man of the match: Y Khan

The Bottom Line: Look, the bowlers were out of touch, and Warne wasn't inspiring. If it came to keeping just one spinner, MacGill would be the go on form. Haddin will be dropped, and Hayden is a big loss and someone is set to debut next week. Will the Aussie go with four bowlers and an all rounder in Harvey or Clarke? We will wait and see...
