Since Si is stuck in a time warp and thought it was last week again (how I wish it was), I've deleted his thread and put a more meaningful one up here!

Because this thread has been put up, does it mean we can post our match reports, even though results have been not been sent out?

ACT versus Guyana

The Comets hosted Guyana in the 3rd round of the 4 day competition. ACT won the toss and set the boys from the Windies in.
Guyana good a good start, the openers put on 38 before a couple of quick wickets fell. Soon Guyana were 3/52 with Simon Mann taking all the wickets and continued his impressive start to the WCC so far.
Parlane put up a good performance in the middle order scoring an unbeaten 67. He didnt have much help from his mates as Guyana posted a decent total of 267. Mann taking 5 wickets for the home side.
ACT began their chance late on day 1, some good shot early on set the standard for the rest of the innings. unfortunately for the Comets they lost Jeffrey (10) and Cade Brown (22) before stumps. Skipper Michael Dawn was joined at the crease by Sean Maxwell. They continued to play their shots on day 2 with Dawn falling just 7 runs short of a century. Maxwell kept solid with Shane Watson till the young Queenslander was dismissed by jermaine Lawson with the score on 232.
the ACT smashed Guyana to all parts for the rest of the innings, until captain Dawn declared with the score at 7/620. Sean Maxwell the star with 258* from 464 balls. Ben Southam made an impressive 68 and finally looked the goods after a slow start to the season. Christian Hanna (45) and Leg Spinning star matt Ramage (46*) also played valuable innings.
Hanniff scored 64* in Guyana's seconds innings, but they were never in with a show as they were bundled out for 166.
Ramage and Kent French grabbed 3 wickets each as Comets secured 2nd place on the division 5 table with a win by an innings and 187 runs.
Man of the match went to Sean Maxwell for his awesome display in his 258*.

All allegations of blood on the hands of Leics manager David are wildly exagerated.

Yorkshire v NSW

This is the worst game i have been as a manager of this team... we have never beaten NSW and we played as a team to play absolutely crap... the worst i have ever seen.

To NSW credit they obviously played well but Yorkshire showing that they are potential championship contenders UMPIRE MONEY laughed and said that his team has more of a chance to dance with monkeys on thier days off.

the worst performance that could have happened and it is not funny... if we get relegated its our own fault cause we have a good enough team to go all the way

Problematic Province

Province hosted a Victorian side out to claim there first win of the season, and their hunger was too much for poor old Province.

Province were outplayed from the start. After T Ahmed ripped through the dangerous top order to leave Province at 5-56, only a dogged 32 from Hylton Ackermann allowed the score to crawl past 100. Province were all out for 104 with Harvey and Ahmed taking 3 and Bradburn taking a fatal 4-19.

Victoria were set to bat Province out of the game. The score had reached 5-325 on the back of a superb effort by opener Matthew Elliot, and it was only a later charge by the Province bowlers which dismissed the bushrangers for 423. Once again G Yates stood out with the ball taking 4/93, other than that nothing to rave home about.

Province then came out to bat for pride. They must be a pretty ****ing proud side because they ended up getting 452. The top 5 all past 50 except for Richo who got 49 but who cares i'll say 50 with Prince batting brilliantly for his debut with the club for 109.
Province ended up compiling 452 with Harvey taking 6 wickets to take 10 for da match, to provide a small target for the Bushrangers.

The Province bowlers then took the initiative and had reduced Vic to 4/72 and all of a sudden 62 were needed with 6 wickets in hand maybe. But as per usually maybe not G Lloyd led Vic home well compiling 52.

The results left Slats4ever with this to say. "I'm not happy with how things are going, I have one of the better sides on paper in my division yet continually am getting beaten, I dunno whats going on, but something's not right"

Mumbai were much too strong for Qld in the latest round of the four day comp. Batting first Qld were bundled out for 86. Martin Love was the only one to show any resistance to post an unbeaten 53. Waqar Younis was the destroyer taking 7/42.

In reply Mumbai kicked off with 413 with Francis getting 111 and Tendulkar 122. Kasprowicz took 4 wickets.

Qld made 297 in the second innings with Hussain 93 and Bichel 68* getting runs. Mumbai won by an innings and 30 runs.

Qld were always going to struggle in the four day comp and it will be a fight to stay in the top division.

nsw turned up in there 4 day game . yorkshire batting first could only muster up 267 ao with laney the only true stand out. mcgrath picked up 4 and was well supported by ferguson with 3 and all the other bowlers chipped in with 1 each.

nsw then batted yorkshire out of the game with a brilliant 539ao. slater, richards, bevan all chipped in. lara batted brilliantly for an unbeaten 153 (244) and he was well backed up by kallis 91 (154) thats his 3rd 90 ina row after rumours had it he was going to be dropped to sydney grade, haddin also batted well with 79 (151). nsw with a good lead, then made sure they didnt bat again when yorkshire where all out for 268. nsw win by an inings and 4 runs. pick of the bowlers in the 2nd innings was ferguson who snared 5 - 73 of 24 overs. lee picked up 2 and mcgrath picked up 1. all in all a good win by the boys and that win puts them into 2nd place behind rivals south australia.

LANCASHIRE LOSE KEY GAME AGAINST KENT

Lancashire batted first, but were dismissed for a lowly 177 all out with J.Madanagopal (48) the only batsman to produce an innings of note. For the visitors T.Hawkins (15-4-43-4), S.Hutton (11-1-36-3) and D.Marsh (12-4-24-2) all bowled impressively.

In reply, Kent scored 345 all out to take a handy first innings lead of 168 runs. J.Cox (72), A.Flower (68), D.Marsh (44), B.Allen (43) and M.Jayawardene (33) all contributed. The best of the home bowlers were M.Pushpakumara (25-3-101-5) and A.Dale (27-10-49-3).

Lancashire fared much better in their second innings, posting 338 all out, but they really needed another 80+ runs to put pressure on the visitors in the upcoming fourth innings. A.Schiller (100) led the way with good support from M.Mendis (65no), J.Madanagopal (60) and S.Harwood (30). T.Hawkins (17-4-57-4) again starred for Kent with the ball. His efforts would ultimately gain him man of the match award.

So Kent were left with a victory target of just 175 to chase and they managed to do this for the loss of two wickets. J.Cox (74) and B.Allen (62no) ensured that there was no dramatic collapse as they saw their side through to an important away victory.

This had been a key game to Lancashire’s promotion hopes and they lost. A disappointing effort!

LANCASHIRE – 177 and 338
KENT - 345 and 175/2
