This is not the actual least bye per match though.
Google says Denis Lindsay only conceded 20 byes in his 15 Tests as Keeper. So a Bye per Test 1.33.

Checked Pilling’s bye per Test by counting them.. and he had a bye per Test of 3.5… But around half of his matches were when Australia batted just 1 innings and the Test was drawn due to three day Teat Matches and he played in a low scoring era.

How are you obtaining bye/match or bye/inns data?

iirc its from this article

Full list here shows exactly how useful it is, with Akmal rating as a better keeper than Boucher, Evans, Dujon, Sanga, Ames, Duckworth, Lilley, Strudwick, Tallon, Cameron and Blackham. Andy Flower is even higher, also beating out Oldfield and Prasanna.

This one uses some adjustment factor, not actual byes per tests(don’t know who comes were in that list).
Knott is places third here and as per byes/test Knott is placed 6th.
Byes / Innings would be more reliable and Byes/ balls would be more reliable although Akmal still beats Ames, Sangakkara and Duckworth purely by going with that, excluding adjustment factor.

All statistics all pretty much unreliable

Keeping and fielding stats in general are by far the least reliable. Too many factors such as number of chances, difficulty of chances, pitch condition, hell how can one quantify over a career how many runs an excellent outfielder may have saved? Much more effort to keep track of fielding stats in recent times but eye test is really always gonna be the defining measure for that at least.

Didn't know it was that easy.

Anyways...

Keeping and keepers are so very hard to rank and rate.

A absolute top tier, or elite ATG tier might include (and I will miss names)
Taylor, Tallon, Oldfield and Evans.

The ATG tier might include
Healy, Knott, Cameron, David Murray, Duckworth, Kirmani

Great might include
Bari, Latiff, Waite, Jayawardene, Deryck Murray

Before everyone starts up, this is a conversation starter more than a definitive list, but if that is the great category, is Gilchrist definitively there, far less Sangakkara?
Where you rate PJ shows the utter bias you have. He was way above David Muray as a keeper. Infact he is beter tgan any keeper West Indies ever had.

Sangakkara kept for more varied attacks. Fast bowlers, medium.paers, big spinners, ununorthodox bowlers and on difficult pitches than any keeper in the history. That it self puts him very high. He may be bit lower than Gilchrist in tests, but clearly better in ODIs.

The utter bias?

I've seen you rate Sanga as the 2nd best batsman ever, and just a few posts prior state he was absolutely as good a keeper as Gilchrist.

I never saw David Murray keep, I'm going based on what I've read and been told. Dujon acknowledged Murray was easily better than he was and Dujon was selected for his batting, while obviously being superb to the pacers. I could also have gone with Hendriks.

I also stated that this wasn't by any means a definitive list, it's the hardest area of the sport to rate, and I made no claims of absolute accuracy.

With specific reference to P.J., I did see him keep and he was brilliant. As I've said multiple times though, Healy was the absolute best I've ever seen and it wasn't close. So I don't think he was as good as Healy for reference and that's why he was in the next tier.

I have no issue revising that opinion if others think he was just as good as Healy.

But for you of all people to immediately jump to bias, is at best rich.
