Hi

I picked up a few items at an auction and included was the signed picture as attached.
The lot included items from the England touring team of 1928-9 but this image does not appear to be of any of that team. The date is 1926 but I cannot work out who it is.

Help would be much appreciated

Thank you

I thought it might have been Greville Stevens but the cricinfo profile pic doesn’t really match and neither does the signature. Went through the england 1926 series players but can’t say it looks a good match for any of them.

That you so much for the reply - I think I have got to the bottom of it as I believe it is George Geary. The lot had various items of which this was one and came from his family. I guess I was fixated on the written name (may have been the photographer) rather than the picture itself.

No worries mate. Glad you’ve got an answer. Looks like you got yourself some great finds. Regular collector? If you are, you’re probably in the right place to post snaps of some of your stuff if you’re so minded.

Thanks - I used to pick a few things up and was lucky enough to meet many of the former Ashes players in the centenary test in 1980 (and have a pretty good autograph book). I used to write to a number of players (including Don Bradman) when it was possible to find home addresses in Who's Who in the reference library (those were the days) but haven't really actively looked for a long time. This lot hit the radar while I was looking for something else and included a miniature bat belonging to George Geary and signed by the full squad of the 1928-9 England team touring Australia. It has re-kindled the flame anyway!

Nice purchase - think I'll keep to myself what I paid for a copy of Geary's benefit brochure for fear of embarrassment
