the top two for sure.
Believe it or not I sometimes rate Viv the greatest after bradman. I think him, Sachin, sobers, hobbs and Steve Smith (maybe controversial) have the most solid cases for that title, all for different reasons. I just don't have a set answer.

Saying that, I find many aspects of viv's record extremely overhyped, yes.

Oh, Nice, we have similar beliefs then, I just have Hobbs locked at 2 pretty firmly and then Tendulkar/Hutton/Viv/Sobers as practical equals all excelling in their own fields. Smith I withhold judgement on, until he retires ofc.

Mostly cases of underrating Viv than overrating Tendulkar as Kyear suggests.
I don't think he was suggesting Tendulkar is overrated, I think he was suggesting that people exaggerate the gap between Viv and Sachin on the basis of longevity rather than Sachin being overrated due to longevity

Sachin fans beat others in terms of volume of annoyance, but Viv fans are a special breed of delusional imo.
both fandoms like to pretend Cricket started mattering when their player started playing and stopped mattering when their players stopped playing but Sachin fans are just in such a higher quantity, here or away from here, it's Incomparable imo.

No it's that Viv is not appreciated enough here. However Sobers is and nobody I know here is suggesting a big gap between him and Tendulkar.

Kyear has to spin this as Sachin being overrated which he has presented a number of times despite he himself rating Sachin ahead.

I don't think he was saying Sachin is overrated, moreso that the gap between Sachin and Viv is overrated because people value longevity over performance against the best and peak.
