Who is the better player of pace?
Not even a little.This is not remotely close
If that's the case then why ponting doesn't have overseas series anywhere close to Sanga had in nz against pace of BondNot even a little.
He had multiple great away tours in Nz, Sa, Pak etc. He didn't get to face Bond in Nz in tests... Which isn't his faultIf that's the case then why ponting doesn't have overseas series anywhere close to Sanga had in nz against pace of Bond
@capt_Luffy
Multiple great away tours where in which conditions and against whomHe had multiple great away tours in Nz, Sa, Pak etc. He didn't get to face Bond in Nz in tests... Which isn't his fault
And it's Sanga's greatest series. We're judging them vs pace by their whole career, where Ponting is clearly ahead. Similarly, Sanga is also clearly ahead vs spin, though Ponting had a great tour vs Murali in SLHe had multiple great away tours in Nz, Sa, Pak etc. He didn't get to face Bond in Nz in tests... I'm not saying Ponting isn't better but how is Ponting way better when there's no evidence of that. Sangakkara has 3 ATG knocks in nz ffs. And would have had ATG ton in sa if not for poor umpiring (Centurion)And it's Sanga's greatest series. We're judging them vs pace by their whole career, where Ponting is clearly ahead. There is evidence though, multiple away tours of SA vs Ntini & Pollock, a great tour of Pak vs Waqar & Shoaib, the hundred vs Ambrose & Walsh in 99, multiple great 100s in Eng and Nz as well. And this is only away from home. He was great at home vs pace, on the faster and bouncy pitches; many of them were flat, but even they weren't, Ponting was great on them.I'm not saying Ponting isn't better but how is Ponting way better when there's no evidence of that. Pollock? Pollock when he was finished as a bowler and mostly on good batting wicket. Ambrose of 1999 on slow flat wicket. Waqar of 2003 in sl you mean, sangakkara has a better ton in lahore and I haven't even included that. None of the innings you shared suggests Ponting was some Viv Richards against pace.There is evidence though, multiple away tours of SA vs Ntini & Pollock, a great tour of Pak vs Waqar & Shoaib, the hundred vs Ambrose & Walsh in 99, multiple great 100s in Eng and Nz as well. Sanga was very good vs pace, but he has few ATG inns but not sustained greatness vs pace throughout his career. It's basically the opposite of them vs spin
Ok finished pollock, but peak ntini. The attacks he faced in Nz weren't great ofc. He did make some very good 100s there though nonetheless. 1999 vs Ambrose and Walsh wasn't a slow flat wkt either. And you're ignoring the main point that Ponting played his home games in Aus where he was really at his best.Pollock? Pollock when he was finished as a bowler and mostly on good batting wicket. Have you even gone through his games in nz properly? Nz really?
He has one great ton in eng in 2005 and averaged mighty 39 in that series in the middle of his prime.
I'm not even saying sanga was better against pace but the way you exaggerated it was funny
Yeah Australian tracks of 2000s with those genius overseas attacks.Ok finished pollock, but peak ntini. The attacks he faced in Nz weren't great ofc. Many of them were flat, still had bounce and pace though, and much better for pace than SL tracks. You're using few great knocks in Nz to justify the opposite of what we saw throughout their career.Yeah Australian tracks of 2000s with those genius overseas attacks.
Obviously that's why my disagreement here. Few guys here made it look like as if sanga was some low grade scum against pace lmaoIt’s very strange to say it’s not close tbh. Both were ATG players of pace.
Made it look like it was Ponting vs Jayawardene lolObviously that's why my disagreement here. Few guys here made it look like as if sanga was some low grade scum against pace lmao
