AndrewB won by 71 runs

After a solid batting performance by AndrewB's XI, with most of the top and middle order contributing, Line and Length's first innings, by contrast, was held together by a fine hundred from Weekes and battling 80s from Cook and Border. In the second innings, AndrewB's men piled on the runs - Ponting, with 137, being the stand-out performer - with only the West Indian duo of Garner and Sobers making any impact with the ball. After an excellent opening stand by Cook and Sehwag, the match seemed to be heading for a draw, but Anderson and Faulkner worked their way through the batting. While Border was there, Line and Length still had some hope, but Hammond was brought on and dismissed him, Kapil and Verity in quick succession, and Pollock then dismissed Garner to wrap up the victory in the final session.

ataraxia won by 2 wickets

A fine bowling stint from Miller resulted in a meagre total being posted by trundler's XI, with only Sutcliffe preventing a complete disaster. It looked for a while that Team ataraxia was going to get a huge lead, and although they were pegged back by Barnes and Cummins, trundler's men were still up against it. They batted better the second time around against some patient bowling from Goddard, and then seemed to be heading for a remarkable comeback win as ataraxia's XI slumped to 91-6. But Headley and de Kock then steadied the ship, with Headley eventually hitting the winning boundary for a narrow victory.

Himannv won by 5 wickets

A fine display of batting from Amiss was needed to hold together Teuton XI's first innings, and, after a decent start, Himannv's team also struggled, with only a battling 90 from Miandad keeping the deficit below 100. But Hadlee soon had Teuton's men in trouble the second time around, and with Hammond again chipping in with late wickets, the target for victory was only 260. A steady start from Hanif Mohammad and Mitchell was the launchpad for some stylish batting from the middle order as Himannv's XI won in comfort.

Fuller Pilch won by 1 wicket

Tendulkar, well supported by Benaud and Lindwall, looked to be taking Pothas's team to a large total after a shaky start, until Philander, having recovered from a strain, returned to run through the tail. Fuller Pilch's side were in more trouble early on, until Kallis and Cairns helped them recover, and some fierce hitting from Philander backed up his earlier bowling to give them a minuscule lead. Batting was now proving difficult, and Pothas's XI could only set a target of just over 200, and it looked for a while like Hayden and Kallis were going to give Fuller Pilch an easy win. Wickets then tumbled, however, and they needed another dogged effort from Cairns to scrape the narrowest of wins.

JOJOXI won by 8 runs

In another cliff-hanger of a match, the early running was made by that man Lara with yet another hundred, but he lacked support and the score was kept down to a manageable level. Michaelf7777777's first innings was more about consistency, with plenty of contributions but nothing major against some tight bowling by Murali and Stokes. A fine opening spell from Davidson then had JOJOXI in some trouble, but Chappell and Flower enabled them to set a decent target despite Warne running through the tail. It appeared that Michaelf7777777's XI would reach the target with ease as Gavaskar and Barnes scored over half the runs needed, but then all of JOJOXI's bowlers chipped in to run through the later batting, eventually leaving them an agonising 8 runs short.

Michaelf7777777 won by 3 wickets

The match began disastrously for Line and Length's XI as Botham and Davidson left their innings in tatters at 70-6. But then a hard-hitting 86 from Kapil brought them back into the game, and solid support from Verity enabled Weekes to complete his hundred. Verity was then the pick of the bowlers as Michaelf7777777's XI achieved a first innings lead of 42. Line and Length's second innings also started poorly, with a century from Sangakkara this time bringing their total to respectability, but the target was just 193. Gavaskar held the innings together against some probing bowling from Steyn and Kapil, and although the rest Michaelf7777777's men were never comfortable, they eventually managed a 3-wicket win to bounce back from their disappointment in the previous game, leaving Line and Length's hopes of winning the tournament in the balance.

JOJOXI won by 1 wicket

After a decent start, ataraxia's XI stumbled despite Sangakkara's 91, and it took some fierce hitting from Holding to take them past 300. Excellent bowling from Holding and Lillee, however, meant that this was enough for a healthy first innings lead. JOJOXI's spinners made life difficult for ataraxia's men in the second innings, and it took another great knock from Sangakkara to get them past 250. With this giving ataraxia a lead of over 350, it seemed to be enough until a magnificent partnership of 150 by Chappell and Flower. After Chappell was out, Flower and Imran took JOJOXI to the brink of victory before Lillee removed Imran, Marshall and Warne in one over with 10 runs still needed. Flower then managed to bring the scores level, and then Muralitharan hit the winning boundary to leave the tournament wide open, with at least 3 teams guaranteed to be joint leaders with one round left to play.

Some big games being super close - our guys beating Ataraxia by 1 wicket and earlier losing to Line and Length by 2 runs!

We should try this out for ODIs once the Tests are done. This was one of the best drafts we've had so far.

trundler won by 8 wickets

A magnificent innings by Graeme Pollock, falling just short of his double century, was the only thing that held together the Himannv first innings against some excellent bowling by McGrath and Grimmett. In reply, trundler's XI looked to be heading for a huge lead as Morris and Amla took the score past 350, only for the rest of the batting to disappoint, and Hanif Mohammad and Mitchell managed to wipe off the deficit for Himannv's XI. However, a lethal spell from Cummins saw the Himannv second innings crumble and trundler's men knocked off the runs with few concerns.

Teuton won by 4 wickets

On a difficult wicket, Fuller Pilch's team were soon in trouble against Teuton's pace attack, and even a late rally by Waugh and Jadeja only took them just past 200. In reply, the Teuton's XI batting was comparatively comfortable, especially when Philander was off the field with a strain; it was only when the South African returned to dismiss Clarke, Akram and O'Reilly in quick succession that Fuller Pilch's XI looked like getting back into the game. But after a decent start from Gooch, they struggled again, and although Teuton's men also found it difficult, a solid innings from Barrington eventually saw them home.

Pothas won by 9 wickets

In this match, which both sides needed to win to have any chance of winning the tournament, AndrewB's XI were in trouble from the first-ball dismissal of Hutton by Marshall, and only Ponting saw them achieve any sort of total. Their 225 was
then passed by Pothas's XI with only one wicket down, with hundreds from Hobbs, Gambhir and Lara rapidly putting the match out of AndrewB's reach. Greenidge's battling hundred against more fine bowling by Pothas's men was only enough to - narrowly - prevent the innings defeat.

Line and Length, ataraxia, Pothas and JOJOXI all go into the last round on 5 wins; Himannv, Fuller Pilch, AndrewB and trundler have 4 wins each; Teuton and Michaelf7777777 both have 2 wins.

Line and Length will play Pothas in the final round, so at least one team will finish on 6 wins (well, I guess they could draw but I'd be surprised). If my XI had beaten Pothas in that last match, it would have been possible for the tournament to end with a 7-way tie on 5 wins.

A shame that there is no chance for a crazy 7 way tie - if only the Test Match Championship in real life was as competitive as this!

Edit - Michaelf7777 and Teuton with big wins there as well despite trailing the lead group.

trundler won by 248 runs

When Morris and Sutcliffe batted for most of the first day, trundler's men were set to build a huge score, and will have been disappointed with their eventual 425. However, Fuller Pilch's XI also fell away after a decent start and faced a possible follow-on. This was not enforced, and though trundler's second innings was less convincing, the target was still over 500, and Cummins's excellent bowling meant that Fuller Pilch's side were never going to get close to that.

Teuton's XI were always struggling in this match despite a marvellous 131 from Smith in the first innings with virtually no support. A much more solid display from AndrewB's XI, built round Ponting's hundred, gave them a huge lead despite Akram's heroics. Then a great demonstration of bowling from McGrath soon left Teuton's men fighting to avoid an innings defeat. Some late hitting from last man Waqar saw them narrowly avoid this ignominy, but Greenidge and Hutton only required a couple of overs to finish the match.
