Zimbabwe are crumbling here
in the same way some folk were hoping he picked up a stack of wickets to give the selectors an ‘I told you so’. I don’t see how one game proves them right. I have my thoughts that Cook would trouble to be effective against good batters away from seam friendly conditions but you can’t rule him out on one match alone.First time they pick Cook it's on a flat pitch.
Actually Bashir got a finger injury trying to take a catch (but he returned and bowled later as well). Stokes was just completing Bashir's over. Was Stokes injured bowling? Bowled 3.2 overs..
You could ask Bumrah to bowl on the M25 and he'd still take plenty of wickets. We'll be seeing flat wickets throughout the English summer into the India series I believe. It's the best way to neutralize India (aka Bumrah) and win the series for them because our guys won't make runs away from home even on flat wickets.
depends on how dry the summer is.We'll be seeing flat wickets throughout the English summer into the India series I believe. It's the best way to neutralize India (aka Bumrah) and win the series for them because our guys won't make runs away from home even on flat wickets.
People call flat batting tracks 'roads', but if you really think about it, if cricket were actually played on a road, think of how much bounce they'd get!You could ask Bumrah to bowl on the M25 and he'd still take plenty of wickets.
Not sure if he's ever gone back to Zimbabwe since the black armband incident, but Henry Olonga was on TMS, I'll have to catch what he said at lunchFor sure, but why boycott in the first place then, if you boycott fatigue just lets the bad hombres win in the end?
And easy for us to say there's more to life than politics but we're not getting beaten by ZANU-PF thugs or being kept in jail for months without trial because we opposed the government.
Limited opposition of course, but a very nice highlights reel, I’m sure some of those deliveries would have troubled even the best batters in the worldI haven't looked recently but Bashir must have the most bizarre set of side by side domestic FC to test match statistics ever known.
They were but the fact that Bashir took 6 wickets is a terrible indictment on the rest of themDisappointed Zim couldnt take it to the 4th day, however Bennett and Williams where outstanding,
@kevinw said M25 though, which is famously known as being horrendously slow. Something I can attest for today, having spent about 2 hours on it to travel 40 miles.People call flat batting tracks 'roads', but if you really think about it, if cricket were actually played on a road, think of how much bounce they'd get!
seems like more of the latter. seems he does have a nut in him. also spinners rely so much on confidence you don't believe. speaking as a spinner myself. it's hard to find a spinner that has bat-beating turn, when you do, you have to give him confidenceInteresting that Bashir looks so awful at county level but at Test level has shown that he is worth investing in. Is it down to pitch differences? Or is it more of a case of the kind of bowler he is (e.g. capable of great deliveries but bowls pies outside of it)?
