English bowlers getting some good movement. Healy looks solid enough, Boult's footwork especially is almost nonexistent though, just sitting on the crease poking at half volleys. Probably a result of playing so much short-form cricket.

First wicket not a surprise. Bolton looked absolutely terrible. Easily worse than Chris Martin from NZ. Credit to the bowler too though.

Very impressed with Healy. She hits the ball very cleanly.

Wow, Lanning's test record is appalling for a player of her quality.

Consdering they only play 1 every couple of years, and i dont think any red ball cricket domestically, hardly a suprise..

50 for Alyssa Healy

A lot of critisicm for this pitch, with a huge footmark outside the off stump to a left hander, dosent look great for first morning of a test match

Taunton pitches never look particularly good tbf. Hasn't stopped it being a very batter friendly venue at a lot of times throughout the years.

Let's put it this way, if it was a men's test match there is no way it would look like that...also taunton hasn't been a batter's paradise for few years now..... they call it Ciderabad now

Given it's a four day match, three of the last five Ashes tests have been drawn, and the home side need a win to realistically stay in the series, is that really such an awful thing? Unlike the men there aren't pure pace bowlers who can take the pitch out of the equation in the women's game. There needs to be something in the pitch to provide a balance between bat and ball.

Healy looked in supreme form. Great spell from Gordon, this. Now a dropped catch too.

Healy looked in supreme form.
She did but rode her luck. Hit a few catchable height through the field with little control.

Excellent Test match batting from the Aussies, really showed a lot of patience just judging by the scorecard. Which is all the more impressive considering how little long form cricket they play, if any.

I'm guessing batting first will be a huge advantage, as England will get real tired, real quick not being used to so much time in the field, and they could collapse when it comes their time to bat due to a combination of tired legs and a wearing pitch.

Some of the offside shots from Healy were excellent. A little bit risky for sure, but a lot of times the English bowlers simply offered her too much width
