Ritchie to lead Under 19s

CW Red All Rounder Zac Ritchie will lead the Under 19s in their seven match series against West Indies Under 19s. The selectors have kept faith in Ritchie and his understudy Blake Donald despite both players struggling to cement regular starting spots at their respectively clubs. "Both players have shown great leadership qualities during our last tour for Australia and deserved to be retained," said Under 19 selector Tharmi Loganthan. "As our main all rounders they will also play a major role in our starting XIs."

The squad is boasted by the selection of former CWA players in Matt Luff, Ashley Arnold and Ryan Dunn. But all attention is likely to be on the sons' of two former CW Internationals Boco Fitzsimmons and Rob Malone Jnr. Both players have already shown signs that they could follow the footsteps of their fathers and represent Cricket Web at senior level.

Their are two surprise selections in the squad with CW Colts all rounder Liam Howgate getting rewarded for solid debut against Indian in the recent tour match, scoring a well made fifty in the 2nd Innings. But the big shock was the selection of CW Black batsmen Dan Speirs. After two season of senior cricket at Green and Black, the young spinner turned batsmen has struggled to get game time either club. But impressing selector Tharmi Loganathan at a net session against CWXI seamers Nick Borcich and Kev Gough with his brilliant technique and composure at the crease against two International bowlers. The selectors decided to take a punt on Speirs for this series.

Squad:
ZJ Ritchie [c] (CW Red)
BC Donald [vc] (CW Black)
AR Arnold (CW Black)
MD Luff (CW Red)
R Malone Jnr (CW Green)
A Sharma (CW Red)
S Young (CW Blue)

BC Fitzsimmons [wk] {CW Colts)
BS Read [wk] (CW Green)
LA Howgate (CW Colts)

CricketWeb's Under 19 selectors have kept faith in the eleven that played in the recent tour match against India. There is expected to be a slight change in the bowling attack with vice captain expected to open the bowling with Josh Forner, allowing Sriram to bowl second change, where he has most of his success for his FC team CW Blue. Captain Zac Rtchie is also expected to take a greater responsibility with the bowl, as the team's number one spinner.
