*Official* West Indies Tour of Ireland and England- May/June 2025

Another series loss for us.

We need to have a team that is more cohesive and in tune with the philosophy of winning going forward. These guys don't gel well together.

MoTMs have been two guys on recall, brought back after a long period out. Can we recall someone for match three?

Can that please be the last time Johnson Charles plays in the maroon? Wow what a terrible individual performance that was. Easy fix though, Pooran comes in at 3, Hope moves to open.

What is less obvious is what to do with the bowling. The powerplay was much better with Akheil but Romario is bound to go for runs, Alzarri will take wickets but could go for runs and otherwise we are full of right arm medium pacers.

I think one of Romario or Holder needs to sit for a left arm pace bowler. But the truth is we don't have many options.

Are we…good at white ball cricket again?
I think you certainly could be. We have been well under par on this tour. But much of that is down to England's aggressive batting. In particular, what I like is the use of reverse sweeps and paddles. At least 20 runs came from good balls as a result, whereas our lot just tap it back. It makes a big difference IMHO and until we get better at it ourselves, to complement our insane power down the ground, we will lag behind England.

WI have always been a power hitting team. Even when they were one of the strongest T20 sides I'm sure they played more dot balls than anyone else, but they just hit sixes more often.

Agreed but other teams have almost caught up in terms of down the ground power and have married that with better running between the wickets and reverse sweeps/switch hits/scoops.

We have such insane power we might still win a few games and series, but ultimately I can't see us winning tournaments anymore, especially with that bowling.

Johnson Charles still opening the batting for us tells you everything you need to know.

It's only a very poor Windies mind
Oh yeah, one of the worst white ball performances overall I think I've seen from them, but our batting looks very strong. Bowling is a bit of a concern, still a lot of overs coming from part-timers and players like Carse who haven't quite cracked white ball cricket though

Bowling is a huge concern. Jacks and Bethell are part timers, Bethell should just work on his batting. Wood looked good. Rash, we all love him, but his best days are behind him. Carse will be a good workhorse in Tests and possibly ODI, but I don't think he has the variations for T20. Dawson brought back down to earth.

I'm biased, but personally I'd certainly have Sam Curran in there, maybe for Jacks. A bit of swing first up, and he has shown he can now build an innings as opposed to just swinging from the hip.

We'll take a series win, and a possible 6-0 white ball clean sweep against the Windies, but I can't say my hopes are high going forward

Eh, Rash has had one poor game, not sure it's enough to say he's past his best, likewise as much as Dawson was poor today, he was outstanding in the first game. Rashid and Mahmood are the first names on the teamsheet in terms of bowlers, I'd have Dawson in place of Jacks (which does weaken the batting but significantly strengthens the bowling), then 2 of Wood, Carse, Potts and Overton
