They are, normally far better than this.....

Maharaj should have been given a better shot at the national LO squad.
Maharaj should definitely come into the equation once Tahir retires. Adds abit with the bat and he doesn't dart in his SLA.

There was only one way the Dolphins could win this, and that was to bat first and hope your spinners and Andile come into the game in the second half. Poor decision really. But Markram made a statement. Dale looked smooth. And Shamsi wasn't bad either. Good for the WC.

Markram looked like he was playing in a club game. Just so clearly a tier above everyone else out there.

If he doesn't start every match at the WC it will be a travesty.

Same Warriors squads for tomorrow's start of CSA T20 Challenge v Titans they had for the 50-over SF.

1. M Breetzke
2. JJ Smuts (C)
3. G Cloete
4. S Qeshile
5. L Ngoepe
6. M Marais
7. O Nyaku
8. J de Klerk
9. A Birch
10. LSipamla
11. S Magala
12. T Kaber
13. S Langa
Clearly all 13 will be getting contracted for next season which means Kaber, de Klerk, Nyaku and Marais will be newly contracted. Add Nortje (injured) & new signing Second. Vallie & Moore will get so make that 17. Space for one more.

Ackermann and Harmer will lose theirs as they were in the last year of long-term deals and are Kolpaks.

I imagine the others who may lose their contracts will be Jonker, Fortuin, Gqamane and Walters unless one of them will be the 18th contracted. Doubt there are many other options out ther bar maybe seamer Glenton Stuurman.

Alan Kruger is the official new Knights head coach. He was assistant to Boje and interim when Nicky stepped down for the opportunity to coach in England.

Knights also have confirmed the signing of over 2m tall SA u19 fast-bowler Marco Jansen. His twin brother Duan also joined Free State.

They set to confirm Shaun von Berg at the end of the CSA T20 Challenge when his Titans contract ends.

So their contracted squad up to 16. Looking for a black African batsman and bowler.

Have you seen Lifa Ntanzi? 17 year old being compared to Rabada?

What's happened to Jonker?

He was a key player for us not too long ago.

Now everybody is talking about this system being better, and costing less. Concern I have is that we are going from a 2 system competitions (semi-pro and pro), of provincial and franchise to just 12 provincial teams? Does that not mean we end up with less players with opportunity? And does this new provincial system become a 3-day competition or do we keep the 4-day competition, because that is a big detail?

https://www.sport24.co.za/Cricket/P...t-in-sa-set-for-dramatic-restructure-20190405

From what I've read is seems that it will allow for more contracted players, but less opportunity for fringe players because no semi-professional level?

It'll definitely be 4-day.

Regarding players losing out, if they can't make one of 12 teams, they're probably not all that likely to go very far anyway. Not particularly bothered about some squad player for SWD not playing FC cricket anymore.

Definitely 4-day. It is our main FC system.

That is my thinking too.

6 franchises contracted 17/18 each excluding CSA contracted.

Seem to remember when it was 11 team provincial a lot of the smaller provinces only contracted 12/13/14 and I would even encourage the main provinces to contract that amount. It allows equal spread of talent hopefully and dangles the carrot to succesful club players.
