SA almost went with 3 spinners but Shamsi's name was scratched last minute for Ngidi.

Disappointed not to see Wiaan though.

Both sides going in with 3 quicks 2 spinners.

George Linde and Keshav Maharaj selected as SA's two spinners. Rabada, Nortje and Ngidi the three quicks.

Imran Butt in as opener for Pakistan, Nauman Ali making his test debut as 2nd spinner to Yasir Shah at age 34. Afridi and Hasan Ali the two fast bowlers and Faheem Ashraf the seam bowling AR

That South African team looks well short on batting imo

Yea a lot expected of Maharaj and Linde with the bat.

Wonder if the conditions justify 2 spinners. Would have stuck with Mulder after his impressive outing vs SL.

If we were going to play 3 frontline spinners. First time since the early 1900s surely. Schwartz, Vogler & White.

Faulkner counts as a frontline bowler IMO, major part of the googly quartet. Especially given you're counting White, who got 155 wickets from 97 FC games.

With the “cheering fans” kicking in in a discernibly automatic fashion when boundaries are hit, watching this feels a lot like watching an extremely high res version of Shane Warne Cricket 99. Now all we need is the Geoff Boycott chipping in periodically with “That’s a long hop, my mum could’ve hit that.”
