Cricket Australia should get an absolute grilling for this series performance.

Seems like a jobs for the boys team ..
They played an A series vs Sri Lanka about a month ago and none of the Aus players who participated got picked..

Can't tell me Renshaw and Mcsweeney can't get into this Aussie side

I do agree that Renshaw and McSweeney should have been included ...

Renshaw is 29 , Mcsweeney is 25 , Renshaw has a very good List A record , southpaw also bowls handy offspin and international experience, Mcsweeney also bowls off spin and a good young player, would have been handy on these slowish decks where SA have been comfortable playing two specialist spinners

Proteas turning into quite the team with all their young guns coming through nicely.
Australia just static atm. Hardie can't take a wicket, leaks runs and can hardly score a run. Surely his times up for at least the meantime.
Travis in terrible form is setting them back and Labu back into the fray just seems like a step backwards.

Think NZ also have some good youngsters coming through, Foulkes , Jacobs, O'Rourke , Ravindra , Mariu , Hay , Abbas , Fisher

Thats just more openers though isn’t it? Or do they bat elsewhere in LOs?

Carey deserves a bit more of a run. Was in good ODI form before this series and had been excellent in Tests

Also this idea that McSweeney and Renshaw would come in and be better than Inglis/Carey/Green/Marsh just because they are specialist batsmen is a bit wishful thinking. Not saying they don't deserve a go but bossing domestic cricket isn't the same thing

Aside from Carey I think the other three are the ones most people agree should stay.

I've seen people on socials going on about how because we "picked so many all rounders and 2 keepers instead of specialist batsmen" and that's the problem. Whilst seemingly ignorant of the fact that these all rounders/keepers just happen to be our best white ball batsmen

Repeating myself but Hardie and Marnus are 2 positions we've basically forfeited by selecting them. You won't win many games with 9 men v 11. And Fuller Pilch is also correct (stating the obvious if anything) that we have effectively got a T20 batting line-up ill suited to the 50 over game unless we get a road that suits the style of play. Which is unfortunate because the next 2 cabs off the rank are probably Mitch Owen and Tim David lol

But at the same time it's not a simple case of "pick some more solid 50 over batsmen instead of bloggers then", because the ones we have aren't as good. One guy I would back to do the role at no. 5 or 6 atm is Beau Webster and he doesn't even seem to be in consideration

While this is an off broadway series (more like a pub tour) it has shown how bad our odi team is and the selection of it little better.

There is bound to be a post Warner, Smith, Maxi hangover but I can’t see where the selectors are improving the side. It’s not that the options are there but it is clear Hardie should be dropped for his own good and replaced by Webster, who either is being talked out of the test team or not picked for Odis when he should be picked as often as possible. Renshaw deserves a look at too.

I think we have a better chance of replacing Warner at the top but will struggle to find someone who was as good a finisher and a competent player of spin as Maxwell. Let alone Smith …

Never thought I’d miss Maxwell so much.

Eh keep in mind Maxwell was pretty **** in ODIs for the last 2 years as well.

Anyway I don't think it's a talent issue, it's a game plan/tactics issue.
