Injuries I think. I'm pretty sure it was a precautionary measure though, he really should try and get it back though.

The keepers are:

Gareth Hopkins | Cricket Players and Officials | Cricinfo.com

Reece Young | Cricket Players and Officials | Cricinfo.com

Peter McGlashan | Cricket Players and Officials | Cricinfo.com

Bevan Griggs | Cricket Players and Officials | Cricinfo.com

Chris Nevin | Cricket Players and Officials | Cricinfo.com

Kruger van Wyk | Cricket Players and Officials | Cricinfo.com

Derek de Boorder | Cricket Players and Officials | Cricinfo.com

One thing I never had a clue on was the de Boorder was so young! Thought he was way older.

But those are the wicketkeepers in the country. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, Hopkins is as good as any imo. He's not great at batting but he can catch which is a start.
Meh they're all rubbish, Shane Gadson for back-up keeper please

Probably because Anderson had some pretty good speed for a 16-17 year old, found this clip on Youtube the other day, pretty interesting really: YouTube - Reporter gets hit in head by cricket ball That was almost three years ago, it's a shame he doesn't bowl anymore tbh.
Uhhhhh...... That's Corey Otto, an indoor cricket player from Australia. It's quite easy to tell. He bowls right handed for a start. Then there's the fact that he's clearly an overweight late 20s man wearing an Australian tracksuit.

Ah. My mistake, could of sworn tv one had something like that done with Anderson when he made the Canterbury team a few years back.

Zing.

Just watched the video for the first time. That ain't Anderson.

Is a pity he has apparently given away the bowling though. Didn't he win the fast bowling tournament a few years back?

He didn't win it, I'm pretty sure Boult won it in his year, but Anderson did hit 138K.

Will be interesting to see who gets the new ball for ND out of Southee, Boult, Arnel and Davis.

Joseph Yovich obviously.

Pakistan all-rounder for Otago | Otago Daily Times Online
Yasir Arafat is coming to play for Otago instead of Mascarenhas for this season.

Cricket: Otago's options slashed by injuries | Otago Daily Times Online
With all these injuries, I hope Darren Broom gets a go this season, he got back-to-back centuries on the club scene.

Cricket: Pitch played well but not our call, Hesson says | Otago Daily Times Online
This is irrelevant, but I thought the names of the teams were funny. Cumming XI

England batsman thought to be signed for 20/20 - Radio Sport
And in non-Otago news, apparently Auckland might be signing Ravi Bopara for the Twenty20's.

It turns out Ravi Bopara will be playing for Auckland in all formats of the game, he'll probably fill the void left by Rob Nicol going to Canterbury.

So the international players for this season are now all sorted:
ND: Tillakaratne Dilshan
Auckland: Ravi Bopara
CD: Graham Napier
Wellington: Owais Shah
Otago: Yasir Arafat
Canterbury isn't allowed one

Meanwhile, Otago is doing poorly in their warmup against Canterbury. Must be a dodgy as pitch.

Are you in/from Otago?

Nah, I'm up in Auckland

I dunno what you can take from a warm-up scorecard, but this Jason Donnelly fellow will be an interesting prospect for Canterbury, they could use a decent specialist spinner.
I see he hasn't played an FC game yet, but has played for the South Australia 2nd XI, with 29 wickets @ 12.14 in his first season there (Cricinfo). I couldn't find any other info though.

You get the feeling ND kinda won the quality import prize.
