Crazy that ND are in the final when only one of their batsman (CdG) averages over 30 in this campaign. Canterbury have 5.

Having said that, ND have 8 guys who average under 20 with the ball (Canterbury 1) , and two more just over. And six guys going at under 7s an over (Canterbury 1).

A video 3rd umpire check for a waste high full toss? For real? Come on losers, use your eyes.

The CdG flick to deep square has got to rival Ross Taylor's slog-sweep as the most low percentage shot I've ever seen pro players execute regularly.

Hope everything’s ok with the Boult clan.
Anyway, bit disappointing this, was hoping that Canterbury would put up some kind of fight, but ND are toying with them. Bit surprised Canty haven’t sent Fletcher in higher up the order. This is going to be done as a contest by the time he gets to bat.

Good to see Katene Clarke went well. One of the members of the 2018 under WC team with Ravindra, Allen & Bhula.

Great performance and campaign from Joe Walker. Blocky vindicated!

Are we reasonably apathetic about our domestic comps, or are we too busy watching to discuss? Very little in game or pre game conversation or hype about a final with mostly all NZ players etc available

What happened to the pitch in the final, it was like two different pitches. Was it the dew/lights etc?

Bangladistricts just showing off their superior spin bowling resources in ideal conditions imo.

Juts noticed this appear on the NZC website of upcoming matches:
Auckland Aces v Northern Districts Men
Plunket Shield 2021-22 - Four Day Match (First Class) -
Kennards Hire Community Oval - 4 Feb 2022, 10:30am

So, by accident due to the Auckland Lockdown back in Spring, and the re-scheduling. Some players will have an opportunity to play a FC match before the South Africa test series.

So, of a likely test 12 - Possibly:
  • Southee
  • Wagner
  • Boult
  • Jamieson
Maybe Kane if he is available?

TBH, it is the batsmen I'd want getting some time in the middle. So, not of that much use unless Kane uses it as a comeback match.

Hawkes Bay retain the Hawke Cup in challenge v Manawatu, winning on first innings.

Odd game, super slow batting. Manawatu were trying to bat out two plus days for the 1st innings win.

Three-dayer on between Auckland A and ND A as well as the Ford Trophy game. Max O'Dowd appearing for Auckland A interestingly. Netherlands international, born in Auckland, did well for Otago A last season. Wonder if he'll get a call up.

I think that is pretty typical for Hawke Cup.

You wouldn't want every cricket match to be like that, but it makes a good point of difference in the type of cricket required.

In one of the televised super smash games commentary was noting that he was hobbling in the field. But I think he still came back and bowled later in that game.

Interesting how low the WASP is for Auckland.

Only 5%
93/2 in the 26th chasing 297.
