If he converted a few more (see: any) of those early starts, he'd have had an awesome season.

Pity he can't play on pitches with bounce..

Whats he like against spinners? as I said in the other thread, we should just pick guys for the conditions, and we're off to SL next.

The runners:
middle order:
Sinclair 837 @ 83.70-not a good idea
Myburgh 739 @ 61.58-not eligible
Patton 479 @ 59.91-inexperienced but good
Young 527 @ 58.55-I doubt he'd be test class
Williamson 707 @ 54.38-not yet

openers: (see other post)
Cumming
Ingram
McIntosh
Papps
How

bowlers:
Tuffey 23 @ 18.91-ICL :(
Napier 14 @ 21-not eligible
Ellis 23 @ 23.78-bits and pieces
Boult 9 @ 23.88-see Williamson
McSkimming 12 @ 24.25-medium pace plodder
de Grandgomme 19 @ 24.84-not eligible
Shaw 19 @ 25.36-decent player. Decent only.
Arnel 13 @ 26.30-I rate him.
Burns 12 @ 27.16-nah
Southee 14 @ 28.07-no
Bennett 26 @ 29.26-**** no
Thompson 21 @ 29.90-see McSkimming
So I would have to go for Patton, Arnel and an openr out of the players on that list.

Its not the most comforting list though.

Tuffey could be eligible.

I say lets bring Williamson, though only as a Test cover batsman. Play Oram or Franklin at 6 and let Williamson play some tour games, give him some experience in Sri Lankan conditions. Get him involved in the team setup.

That leaves a space for an opener (Cumming) and a bowler ????

Patton, he has played seven first-class games. Williamson has played ten. I know he is 11 years older, but he has no future with NZ cricket. Take Williamson, he doesn't have to play.

Haven't seen Patton. What's happened to Neil Broom? He seemed to be next-on-the-list for the middle order but I've glanced at a couple of scorecards and he seems to have scored bugger all.

Maybe he's just doing the standard unwanted NZ batsman returning to domestic cricket thing and failing epicly (see Jamie How).
