Why would any team make an absolute **** like Pollard captain
TBH, we spent 3 years losing literally every match under Holder's captaincy. SInce Pollard took over our ODI record is 21 matches, 12 wins, 9 losses, which is a vast improvement.
Obviously we need to do some soul searching after the T20 world cup performance and this series. It needs to be much harder to get in the West Indies side, for example. Is it any wonder Greaves looks so poor when he hardly had to do anything to get into the team in the first place?
One big mitigation also is that we lost 3 vital tosses. Batting first was a considerable disadvantage in those conditions, especially starting at 9am when the surface was seriously tacky. We should have found a way to get runs on the board anyway, absolutely, but it was certainly a factor.
There are also players who are more than due a drop. Roston Chase just has to go. He is averaging 16 with the bat in Tests, ODI's and T20's. Getting out in the same ways over and over again. We haven't had any domestic cricket to identify replacements unfortunately, but he as soon as we have any cricket he needs to go!
I also feel our pitches are doing our already struggling batsmen no favours at all. I can;t remember the last time we played on a pitch that could be described as true and rewards good strokeplay. This is not good for either confidence or development.
