Whoever decided AB should bat at 6 needs put down. Sure, he's not hit the heights this season, but you've got an absolute gun there and you're wasting him. AB at 3 with Maxwell 4 is truly terrifying
You can blame the ape-man from west delhi in charge.

Whatever it takes!!!
Lokesh Rahul at his best...makes batting look so easy...he's 70 off only 34 balls.
Its frustrating isn't it? He does this on a pitch no one has looked even half as comfortable. But will then bat at a SR of 110 coz SR is overrated until it is a nothing to lose situation.

Good news for India is that the India players are coming into form just at the right time - Bumrah, SKY, Ishy Kishy, Bhuvi, KL Rahul now, Rohit is in okish form, Jaddu is in decent form, Ashwin seemed to be getting into some form as well, Varun has been in good form. If Virat, Pant and Hardik find some form, we should be ok going into the WT20.

Yes, when you watch KL pull off innings like these, it makes you think his career so far has been underwhelming.

Mi are making a full fist of qualifying, if only RR haden't **** the bed so hard in those last 2 games. Would have been interesting.

Think its a good time to recall a couple of my posts after last year's IPL when so many were sure MI was the GOAT T20 side.

Kudos to MI. I think they were lucky last year to get away with the win but this year they have been head and shoulders above the rest, and interestingly while many of the other sides seemed to go down the longer the season went on, they were one of the few teams to get better as the season went on. They invested heavily since 2013 on power hitters and fast bowlers and that has paid dividends in one of the most dominant IPL runs I can think of.

They were surely in some luck as well given how the pitches and the winter seemed to almost relegate spinners to also rans this IPL along with accumulator type batsmen, two categories they never stocked up on. But there is some decent logic there as it seems with all night T20 games, fast bowlers are less likely to cost you games overall with all the dew and cool weather factoring in, even in peak summer conditions. All in all, they invested heavily in playing a certain type of cricket from 2013 and it has landed them 5 titles in 8 seasons. You can't really help but applaud that vision, planning, focus which led to them getting these results. This is not an ATG side at its core like the other dominant cricket teams we have seen at the national level but this is one built on an excellent vision, focused planning, and continual efforts.

2. wont make sense coz he is a retained player and as such is one of the top 3 earners in the side. If he is released, very possible he actually earns much lesser. I just think they kissed and made up and are now hoping he comes through for us. Wait for stats like "CSK has never not made play-offs when Raina is in the side" :p
Well, they have not. :)

MI have shown how much even minor injuries for a couple of games can make/break sides in franchise T20 cricket. And more than anything else, it shows why we NEED the IPL to be in India and on the home/away basis as it actually gives us fairer spread of conditions and teams. Every leg held outside of India have been a bit montonous in terms of conditions and pitches.

MI still surely the top contender for best T20 franchise though? Don't know enough about the other mickey mouse competitions tbf.

Looking into it more, CSK has won the Champions League a couple of times and made lots of playoffs.

Has to be between these two teams. BBL is too low quality, maybe CPL has some teams with reasonably strong history.

Anyways, thinking of retentions, I assume each side will get 5 retentions, which can either be direct retentions or RTM cards. The split could be 2 overseas and 3 local. If these are the criteria, and we do not know if these are, here is how I would do it -

CSK - Ruturaj, Jadeja, Shardul, Faf, Moeen (assuming MSD, Raina, Bravo, Tahir all call it quits)
MI - Rohit, Hardik, Bumrah, Boult, Pollard
DC - Pant, Prithvi, Shikhar, Rabada, Nortje (my guess is that Shreyas would wanna move out after the captaincy thing)
RCB - Virat, DDP, Chahal, AB, Maxwell
KKR - Varun, Gill, Rana, Narine, Russell
PBKS - Rahul, Bishnoi, Shami (I would keep the faith in Pooran, but they will most likely not)
RR - Samson, Archer, Buttler
SRH - Rashid, Bairstow

I think the Trinidad team has some stupidly awesome record in the CPL?
