I remember when Neesham first came back into the side last season he mentioned Kane had mentioned his social media use to him, said he wasn't a fan and said he'd probably knock it on the head. Which he hasn't done, obviously. Could something like that come into it? I mean he's pretty reasonable and respectable on there ... probably wins about 1000x or more fans than he loses (might have pissed off a few hardcore Sean Plunkett devotees, but that's about it).
As I said in my last post, I just don't see how this could be the case when Neesham was picked for the World Cup, played every game (unless I forget) and is now a fixture in that ODI side.

That is what I've heard, his active social media life doesn't suit our establishment. Honestly what difference does it make? As long as he's not slagging off NZC and sticking to the rules of the contract they shouldn't care. Not everyone is supposed to be Kane.

duffy and rae creating a mess is promising, though looks to be a bit in the wicket. for a team missing the usual nz A bowlers that's a really good effort.

Be careful, if you say his name again you'll summon him and he'll give Phlegm another spray.
im feeling quite smug he's pumping some medium pacers because of their h4x stats when he signed up because i said he was fast, useless and shouldn't play ahead of some medium pacers with h4x stats

neither of us came out of that looking great tbh. a teenager slagging off a player like blocky-lite and a player being triggered by a kid on the internet.

Yeah McEwan should definitely be in there.
he has the same problem tim southee should be having - what does he offer that cdg doesn't?

there's still a place for h4x medium pace in test cricket but cdg and southee are ahead of him. just like you wouldn't play 4 lockies you wouldn't play 4 colins.

boult, ferguson, wagner, cdg and ajaz/somerville should be lining up for our next test fitness pending with southee first reserve.

Absolute madness if true.

India to win every series during this tour for me cause New Zealand are shattered cricket team since world cup final mentally and emotional.
I think you are right about India. NZ has it ups and downs, let's not forget in the past when it did wonders.

If Will Young doesn't play international cricket this summer I'll promise to engage in some hyperbolic act which I will never actually follow through with

I'm with SteveNZ. Do we really think Neesham is being left out of the T20 side due to his personality, yet somehow is still allowed to play ODIs?

Just saw that 6'8 Jamieson will be the tallest to play for NZ - taller than Fulton. I don't know if there is tallest NZ XI. Oram, Tuffey, Somerville, Gary Troup, James and Trevor Franklin would be in it.

His role within NZ cricket is being minimised, they aren't casting him wholly aside. But he should be a core player and isn't treated as one.

Core player? Jeez I dunno, he was a fringe player for years, quite rightfully imo. Came storming back into the ODI side over the last 12 months and has done well domestically in T20s but doesn't have much on the board in T20Is. This makes him a core member of the overall set-up?

Oram is taller than Fulton and might still be the second tallest NZ cricketer I can think of. Trevor Franklin may have been a genuine 6'6", still a massive guy in person and probably one of the taller specialist batsmen ever in international cricket.

The other thing is that Daryl Mitchell debuted last season in T20's against India which Neesham didn't play in. So Neesham was behind him in the queue for the T20 squad, as opposed to Neesham being the T20 incumbent who has been cast out. They obviously both played in the T20 series against England. It seems like they are giving them both opportunities as they build towards the WC.

It's odd, because Neesham played 3 T20Is versus England at the end of last year and didn't exactly disgrace himself - 63 runs at 31.50 and 2 wickets at 32. Not the best nor the worst, and top scored in one of the England games which we won. But I guess it's a matter of competition - yet CdG and Mitchell have both had fairly average returns neither better nor worse than Neesham. Don't buy Social media is keeping him out of T20Is, as he's a first choice ODI player, it's jsut that he's never really been consistently picked (or performed) in T20Is.

You'd think he'd be in the squad, though.

A few years ago? Of course not? In the last 12 months? Abso-****ing-lutely

The England series was his first in 2 years, going back to the Bangladesh 2017 tour as his last T20I gig. I think they might just be treating all the squads as different entities rather than a test group and a white ball group.

Based on one format? I like the Neesh but I can't get my head around this take, especially since ODIs are probably lowest priority (not to me, I love JAMODIs) right now.

This sounds too coincidental to be true but after posting this I legit just had a conversation with Trevor Franklin
