Way to put your faith in Shahadat. Played out a maiden in the 49th and now he's getting carted.

Assuming this is another flat Pakistani wicket. Spinners will have to show up for Bangladesh and then some. I refuse to give up though maybe it's the gin talking.

A great innings from the young lad! I was expecting something like this when Gul and Asif were back! Bangladeshi batsman do not have the appropriate technical skill to handle that kind of bowling...

But Shakib Al Hasan has shown what he is made up of! Nothing gives me more pleasure than to see a one batsman hanging in till the end, batting with the tailendrs when the rest have left! My respect for a batsman goes up tremendously! Thats the reason why I rate players like Bevan, Inzamam, Steve Waugh so highly!

Pakistan bowling attack was pretty decent.. the combination of asif, gul, and sohail khan with some spin from afridi could be a good prospect in test matches..

Shoaib is done whie Sohail is still unproven and then add to the injury woes of Asif and Gul, just wait before making such telling comments

well shoaibs hearing is on april 26,
and sohail khan when he is the finished article would make the attack much better,
asif and gul are hopefully over their injury problems now.

so pakistan fans still might have something to look forward to

Saqibul is a star. Ever since he first burst onto the scene I thought he'd be one of their best ever ODI players, and he's definitely trying to prove me right.

1236 runs at 34.33, strike rate of 68.
46 wickets at 34.07, economy rate of 4.24.

Those are excellent figures.

Both of those are boosted by games against really dire opposition. IIRC he averages about 27 with the bat and 55 with the ball against the top 8.

He's a talent, no doubt, but his record is misleading.

Admittedly he has done exceptionally well against the likes Bermuda, Canada and Scotland. Still, 27 isn't too bad for Bangladesh once you exclude his innings against minnows. I know to be classified as a good ODI player his average should be over 30, but I firmly beleive he'll continue to average in the mid-thirties with both bat and ball and start to perform better against some of the better ODI nations. He's also played a few innings at #6 and #7 that influence his average significantly.

Farhad Reza's selection confuses me. He did very well against Ireland and even in the first couple of ODIs against Pakistan with the ball, but if he's going to be the 6th bowler used, he really shouldn't be in the team. He was picked originally to lengthen to batting lineup, based on the theory that his bowling wasn't significantly worse than the other seamers and that he'd back up a failing top order. Whilst I didn't really agree with that, I saw the logic in it. I can't see any logic in him batting #7 and bowling 4 overs as the sixth bowler used, however. They'd be better off with a batsman in his place given the role he's playing - or better yet, actually picking four specialist bowlers and allowing Razzak and Saqibul to perform the middle overs strangle.
