Damn good point tbh, the BBL is packed with bafflingly effective non-spinners. Sodhi kinda bowls like that guy Cook these days.
I maintain that if you were to assemble a dream team of Jono Cook / Chris Green / Peter Hatzoglou types in the BBL to form a bowling attack with zero care or interest for pace stocks, it'd be an unstoppable cheat code.

It still baffles me why teams bother at all bowling pace up front at some of the openers in that league.

What a great spectacle and night for Christchurch with a full house and this Black Caps performance. Thank goodness they got back to level 1 just in time.

Lol, Sodhi could get five here.

Even at their worst legspinners are remarkably useful for mopping up a lower order.

Is this the Aussie team I'm watching? Are they taking a mickey? Geez they look terrible. Hope they can play better cricket than this.

Batting looks so out of depth. Bowling was all over the place. They can't bowl bumpers over shoulders. I'm guessing they're getting used to our conditions and lift their game. Was waiting for a keen contest.

Black caps look like a very well oiled unit. Other than couple of overs or three early on haven't put a foot wrong.

Conway is going to torment a lot of bowlers around the world.

There was a period of time (2017-18?) when he was consistently ranked in the top 10 in T20s, thought he had found his range then. The fact that he doesn't always make the first XI (and NZ's lack of cricket in more spinner friendly conditions in general) probably hasn't helped.
I remember that and like you, thought maybe he would just be a consistent limited overs performer, grow into that role and specialise. All he's done is become a T20 specialist, unfortunately by process of not being good enough, or even remotely consistent in any format.

One thing that has been worryingly consistent for him is the quality of his wickets in recent years even in the Plunket Shield, generally picking up 3fers etc but when you look at the dimissals they are alarmingly due to incompetent batting, rather than his bowling. Sounds harsh, but this is coming from someone desperate to see a leg spinner have some sort of consistent success in red ball formats, hell at this point I'd take a remotely consistent leg spinner in any format. *arise Adi Ashok*

NZ's consistent hype train over the literally the phrase "googly/wrongun" does no one well either.

Strangely Phillips couldn't score much, neither could Neesham in super smash and all them bowlers including Santner, Sodhi etc got smashed by domestic batters recently. Aussies are struggling to get proper bat to long hops. Must be our slightly sticky wicket. I'm not complaining but would like a close game or two.

While I wrote this soliloquy, Ish went full Ish and the Aussies duly obliged HA!

Considering the Big Bash is 2-3 times better quality than the Super Smash, that wasn't a great performance from Australia.
Really? Why do you think that? Like I said above the players Aussie struggled against today got not much in super smash. The only reason I can think of is different conditions. Super smash is definitely not any lesser than big bash IMO
