I actually agree with that. 5 batsman, a keeper/batsman, 2 bowling all-rounders/bowlers that can bat, a specialist seamer and a specialist spinner would work very well for our ODI team.
You mean 5 batsmen, a keeper-batsman, 2 bowling all-rounders, 2 specialist seamers and a specialist spinner. Yes it'd be great.

So how about this?

Virender Sehwag
Sachin Tendulkar
Mohammad Kaif
Rahul Dravid
Yuvraj Singh
Mahendra Singh Dhoni
Irfan Pathan
Munaf Patel / Ajit Agarkar
Zaheer Khan / Vikram Rajvir Singh
Harbhajan Singh
Rudra Pratap Singh
Supersub: Gautam Gambhir or Suresh Raina

-Sehwag and Tendulkar are still a very explosive opening pair
-Kaif should establish himself as the #3 for the long run, even though we may see Dravid, Yuvraj, Dhoni or Pathan here with Chappell's flexibility policy
-Over the last 10 ODIs, Dravid and Yuvraj average 83 and 53. That's a solid middle-order.
-Dhoni (averages 70 over the last 10 ODIs) is playing like a specialist batsman
-Pathan is evolving into an all-rounder and will be a potent strike-bowler as long as he has support
-Agarkar can pick up a few wickets and score a few runs ... (as mentioned before) Patel is a stronger, faster and more dangerous version of Agarkar ... I would say the Razzaq of old or Maharoof (not that he's great, but that type), that kind of player here
-Zaheer and VRV are both powerful bowlers who can stick around with the bat, this guy should open alongside Pathan
-Harbhajan Singh has been economical lately, but he needs to take more wickets; on a turning pitch, India should opt for Ramesh Powar or Piyush Chawla (down the road) as both are wicket-taking spinners who can bat
-RP Singh has certainly impressed thus far
-If India bowls first, Raina or Gambhir can be brought in during the chase as both are talented batsmen ... If India bats first, Raina or Gambhir can still be brought in when we bowl as Raina is a world-class fielder at cover/point, and Gambhir is India's best short-leg fielder (for Harbhajan ... this way we can have the trio of Kaif/Yuvraj/Raina aligned in that arc)
