2.10pm Usually, the teams would be training by now, but looks like the teams haven't reached the venue yet. No signs of spectators yet either, says Danyal Rasool from the Pindi Stadium.

Update from Cricinfo. Hope all is well with both the teams. Hope the covid didn't strike

2.15pm Well, well.... We're hearing that the players have been told to stay inside their rooms.

Again from Cricinfo, This is not good whatsoever.

Not good... Looks like covid again. I'm not sure why the teams are touring left right and center in this pandemic times.

Pretty sure our boys are all vaccinated ages ago. When did they do the test? Just now? After India this comes right behind. Pakistan public must be disappointed after all that build up.

Just hope our boys are all good. It's such a short tour as well. I can't see any games happening. They'll probably need to isolate and get out of there without playing a ball

And now Sky is showing a World T20 match between these teams from 2016. No explanation. Nothing written on the screen.

Quite the shock

According to an NZC release: "The side was to play Pakistan this evening in the first of three ODIs in Rawalpindi, before moving to Lahore for a five match T20 series. However, following an escalation in the New Zealand Government threat levels for Pakistan, and advice from NZC security advisors on the ground, it has been decided the BLACKCAPS will not continue with the tour. Arrangements are now being made for the team's departure."
So not Covid then?
