Hopefully the Scots get some momentum from this and upset someone later.

Not sure if the Namibians are any good, but can't help but feel we've been robbed of some great World Cup matches by their qualification.

^I said that to demonstrate the sort of attitude which robs the associates of guaranteed World Cup places and stifles the growth of the game. Basically anyone who had a thought similar to the one above is an enemy of cricket.

Wonder how much interest there is in Namibia for this team's World Cup run. I'm guessing it's a very niche sport but I hope I'm wrong.

It's reasonably popular there as far as associate teams go, especially with the Afrikaans population. Football and rugby union definitely moreso but it's not a complete unknown entity.

I figured it would be popular among white groups but a recent Wiki search showed me that that's a tiny percentage of the population there.

Is it known/played by much of the black population?

Nah I think it's pretty much just extremely mainstream in predominantly white communities and ignored by everyone else.

Bugger. 6.0% of slightly over 2 million people is not many. But at least someone's playing it there.

I think it's probably a better foundation to have it very popular in a small subculture and unknown elsewhere than just randomly and consistently niche across the board. It's easier to build and grow a cricket community that way, which I think they've done. Hopefully they can find a way to spread it to other demographics.

Yeah agreed, fair point.
