I think he has a point.I think he should aleast be preferred over Swapnil Asnodkar the guy hasn't even played real cricket yet.
Swapnil Asnodkar is the irrelevant option favoured to be included in all polls by most CWers.

Migara

International Coach
I'd go with Symonds. When set he's unstoppable. Jayasuriya unsettles 'em and then cash in. Symonds build it and thrashes them. I would go as Richards > Symonds > Jayasuriya in the plundering order.

And Afridi is just crap. Sehwag is good, but Jaya obviously faced better bowlers than Sehwag as he is from an era where quicks were not cannon fodder. Cairns is good, but his SR does not tell a story. So is Hayden, patheic SR for a man of his size in the recent times (75-78 IIRC). Gayle is also gets a honarary mention, but he's just the bitch for a medium fast swing bowlers. Yuvraj . . . I don't want to talk about him. He'll be utter failure if he played on surfaces that are found in SL or NZ or that from mid 1990a. Spinning seaming or swinging. Biggest FTB IMO.

When Cairns hit a ball it stayed hit.
Or as Waqar Younis put it during the recent ODI series between Pakistan and West Indies, "when (Chris Gayle) hits the ball, it stays hard"...

Anyhow, Jayasuriya for me.

Ok so we have all seen the other thread proclaiming yuvraj to be the most merciless plunderer of alltime (modern era) etc etc

IMO a certain Sanath Jayasuriya was the most merciless plunderer of this new age.

So i decided to put up a poll and see where it leads us.

Oh btw these are just my preferences im sure there are various plunderers which i would not have included :)

And if you could please elaborate why you chose said player.

This poll is for aprox the last 10 to 15 years or so.
My thread is gaining popularity it seems......:)

Gowza

U19 12th Man
imran nazir, jacob oram, albie morkel, ross taylor, cameron white, luke ronchi, david hussey, yusuf pathan, graham napier, rizwan cheema. they're all big hitters, not sure you'd call them merciless, most of them probably aren't consistent enough to really scare the opposition, especially in any 50 over cricket or FC cricket. but on their day they're fun to watch.

Imran Nazir and Graham Napier?

If you're going to include them you could include half the club batsmen in the country. I've got a few team-mates along such lines myself.

NZTailender

I can't believe I ate the whole thing

Weird for the sake of being weird.
One of my all time favourite scenes

Anyway, for ODIs it Jayasuriya. For Tests it becomes a little murkier. Certainly the likes of Hayde, and the somewhat underestimated Langer, were a merciless opening pair. However Gilchrist broke my spirit on a number of occasions against us and provided plenty of entertainment against others with some of his ridiculous Test knocks, so going for him.
