Mitchell Johnson vs Trent Boult vs Chaminda Vaas- Better ODI bowler

thierry henry

International Coach
Boult has racked up a low key gun ODI career during an era where ODIs have been played less and less frequently and seemed less and less relevant. However totally off the top of my head I feel like he’s been decent against decent opposition and of course was gun at the 2015 World Cup, so should rank reasonably highly.

I felt like it was Boult before looking back at Vaas and MJ, since he's had the more obvious impact on the high pressure games. Like someone else I did not realise how sneaky long MJs ODI career was. Would have sworn up and down he was a far better test cricketer than white ball cricketer.

Vaas played in an era where every ODI was serious business, which is to be respected. I think peak Boult was a more vicious bowler but tbh this is a comparison where I can understand all 3 being selected, despite not remembering much of MJ outside him and Scott Styris almost having a fight.

came out of nowhere for me when he hit that 141 at the 2003 WC. Thought he was a shitty Gavin Larsen type bowler who could only slightly hold the bat before that
