Laureus World Sports Awards - team of the year

I know that the awards are for 2011 (not this year), but do you think that England's big loss will/should a part in the judging? I personally think England has a reasonable chance of winning team of the year, although the All Blacks and Barcelona have to be the favourites.

For those who don't know, the finalists are:

All Blacks, FC Barcelona, Dallas Mavericks, England Cricket,Team Japan Women's Football, Team Red Bull

Nominees | Laureus

Do you think England could/should win the award?

No, I realise it SHOULDN'T affect England's chances, but will it? If the judges followed their proper assessment criteria it shouldn't be an issue, but there is always subjectivity and human emotion in making these kinds of decisions.

It is like in a legal case when the defendant has actually been found guilty of the same crime previously and is actually a recidivist offender. Now the jury members aren't allowed to know about this as may affect their decision making with regard to the actual crime for which the defendant is being tried.

In this case the sporting judges will probably know that the England team recently lost by 10 wickets and while it happened in 2012 as opposed to 2011, could it affect their decision?

I actually hope that the All Blacks win, but that's just my opinion.

Australia won in 2002 if I recall correctly. Steve Waugh wrote an interesting chapter surrounding the award ceremony in his diary from that period.

I would have the All Blacks and Japan as my bottom teams. They won 1 tournament over a fairly short period of time, whereas the other teams all performed consistently over a longer period of time.

Personally I would definitely have Barca as favourites.

As it England Cricket team then there's no hope of winning it (the whole One Day side ****s that up)

Barcelona will win it as they've got the media on their side.
