Was going to go for Jeff Dujion, but even though Gilchirst an average keeper compared to the other in the draft. He adds a fair bit to our batting. Hopefully he doesn't drop too many.

Ceylon Sharks

Vijay Merchant
Len Hutton (c)
George Headley
Everton Weekes
Mahela Jayawardena (vc)
Aubrey Faulkner
Adam Gilchirst (wk)
Ray Lindwall
Peter Pollock
Joel Garner
Frank Tyson

Balanced bowling attack with strike bowler in Tyson, a stock bowler in Pollock and two guys that could do both in Lindwall and Garner. Plus Faulkner with his aggressive leg breaks.

Very happy with the batting line, finally we get a brillant No 3. Brillant core in Hutton, Headley and Weekes. With Jayawardene, Faulkner, Gilchirst and Merchant to support. Happy I picked Merchant rather then a medicore opener like Taylor or Anwar. A bit disappointing he missed out on the other draft sides, brillant batsmen and up there with the best of his era. Will love opening with Hutton. Deep batting as well with Pollock at 9. Garner and Tyson now which end is up as well.

Hey stephen out of interest would you have picked a batsmen if one was still there?
My pick priorities were Bradman, Sobers then Miller.

Currently my bowling is probably a little overkill and while my batting is deep is probably a shade underpowered. I just thought that other than Bradman, a pure batsman would given too much responsibility to Imran. Sobers would have balanced my team better than Miller, but Miller was still a good pick for me. Tendulkar (I think) was the only top 10 batsman other than Bradman anyway.

If I could not snag one of the remaining all rounders or Bradman I was going to look at picking up a bowler - thinking of Warne, Hadlee or Marshall. Imran would have had to shoulder more of a burden with the bat, but would have less bowling to do.

The worst position would have been to be left with a choice of Gilchrist, Murali or McGrath. My team could have used them and still been strong, but it would have meant that either my batting or bowling was slightly under strength for an all time team.

From what I can tell there are no specialist batsmen left, so:

Richard Hadlee.

Arthur Morris
Barry Richards
Ian Chappell
Neil Harvey
Steve Waugh
Denis Lindsay
Richard Hadlee
Wasim Akram
Wes Hall
Clarrie Grimmett
Jeff Thompson

Definitely a batsman short, but I'd hope my bowling would well and truly hold its own. I think it is a pretty well balanced bowling attack.

Thought that might be case. Interesting I thought I ****ed up by leaving my keeper to the end. But looking at it leaving your batsmen to end was the massive gamble. Some interesting sides coming up who look a tad short in batting or bowling due to their last pick.

Anyway I would bat Miller at four in your side. Would make it a lot more balanced imo. Chanderpaul doesn't even bat there for West Indies. Would also make Miller my captain, but I'm a fanboy.

Bob Simpson
Sunil Gavaskar
Clyde Walcott
Keith Miller
Dudley Nourse
Shiv Chanderpaul
Imran Khan (c)

I haven't really given any thought to the batting lineup. Nourse was a specialist #4, and Miller played a lot of his career batting at #5 so I think the best batting order for my side is:

Bob Simpson
Sunil Gavaskar
Clyde Walcott
Dudley Nourse
Keith Miller
Shiv Chanderpaul
Imran Khan (c)
Ian Healy (wk)
Alan Davidson
Anil Kumble
Andy Roberts

The only out of position player there is Imran, who generally batted one higher.

This also separates the two prima donas in the team (Miller and Khan).

My tail ain't too bad either. Kumble and Roberts were hardly bunnies.

Out of interest, my batting averages 418 per innings and my bowling takes 20.4 wickets per match
