James Anderson vs Glenn McGrath - Similarities and differences

I doubt that. He was upset when Smith laughed in a press conference. On something not even having anything to do with him. He somehow found slighted when Smith laughed at something that his teammate said. I would argue that he's very weird in addition to being miserable.
Poor Jim. Lol.

Well 500 wickets @ 25 since his recall puts him at the Walsh/Gillespie kind of level, just below the greats but very very good. Not getting into ATG, ATVG etc...

I am comfortable with that as that still puts him as the best English bowler since Trueman and is a fair rating in my opinion.
I think putting Anderson on a similar level as Gillespie and Walsh is fair

Better strike bowler and didn't chicken out when he had to lead the attack. Gillespie had it easier too.

I think CW's Australia fans may have surpassed Indian cricket fans in being one-eyed and having extremely dumb opinions and thinking their players fart out rainbows whenever they play. Cummins better than Anderson, Gillespie as good as Walsh, Starc better than Rabada, all utterly ludicrous opinions which deserve to be laughed at. You guys ****ing suck and so do your opinions. You're as embarassing as any of the Indian fans you make fun off. Why this stupidity is tolerated is beyond me.

Just stfu. No one cares about Australia. Your players are overrated cheats. **** off.

No it's not. The only real hole in Walsh's cv is away to Australia , otherwise Walsh was very good/great vs everyone else home and away. Anderson is excellent at home but sucks away to any team not named WI and Pakistan. Also sucks in Ashes tests. So yeah , on the surface Anderson might seem comparable to Walsh but he really isn't.

Anderson is comfortably better than Gillespie lmao
Dizzy is one of the most under rated bowlers of the last 20-30 years. If it wasn't for him being a crock he'd have got 350+ wickets and been rated a lot higher. Guy was quality in his pomp.

I agree with the essence of this post. Don't forget the overrating of Aussie bats. We get it, you had Bradman but c'mon.

FTR I think flitteryjibber was the first to make the Gillespie/Walsh comparison :p

Haha yeah, I mean, arbitrarily discounting all the successes a player has will tend to make them look pretty poor. Not a very convincing argument.

I was, and they have similar overall records. Not hard to link them. All below the level of the top guys and no disgrace in that.
Ehh Walsh's average is quite a bit better than the other two, and Anderson's record is longer than Dizzy's and had the better peak. Plus Gillespie could at least hide behind McWarne whereas Anderson was generally your best bowler for his whole career.

Gillespie might have been held back by playing in such a strong team. Less motivation to improve. Less motivation to carry on. Less motivation to train hard.

24.44 which isn't a massive difference to Anderson's after his recall in NZ once he got away from the idiot Aussie who tried to remodel his action.
