BARNES OUT
I'm not doubting any of that is true, after all, you'd know, right? My main gripe here is that if Monty does slot into test cricket nicely [I hope he does] and proves to be a better pick than Giles in tes arena, that he shouldn't play ahead of Giles [who isn't rubbish, but tactics aside, look at his stats] because Giles can contribute, on average, something like 15 runs [a guess] per innings? That's a joke. If you want to bowl the best side in the world out 2 times a match in their home country you need your best bowlers playing.

Who knows, Giles could prove he's a much better player and keep his spot.

Apart from it being too early to tell, how about:

Trescothick
Vaughan
Butcher
McGrath
Troughton
Flintoff
Pieterson
Read
Johnson
Jones
Anderson

Hey, I like to think some of these codgers (well Butcher) will still be around. I'm also assuming McGrath and Johnson will cement their places and Jonesy will make a full recovery.
this thread is great, Tony McG cementing his place?

If they go into the Ashes with 4 specialist seamers, Giles AND Fred, I'll get eaten by a Liger.

well he's suggesting 3 seamers + fred and 2 spinners
Indeed he is. I must've forgotten how to read. Add that to my "if they do that I'll get eaten by a Liger" list.

the chances of England playing 2 spinners in Australia are so remote,i'd extend that to "if they do that i'll get eaten by a tigon"
