Is there a team that can beat this Asian ODI XI?

The keeper selection is the most interesting to me. Murali is going to be this team's trump card in Asia so you don't want a merely passable keeper. Pant has improved and he's a fantastic batsman but I don't trust him yet. Latif seems like a massive downgrade with the bat. Dhoni is alright at both I guess but I'm tempted to lean towards a passable batsman who's great with the gloves. That brings us to Engineer. Dunno how good PJ was with the bat. Engineer opening is a pretty good option actually. You can bring in a much more rounded but less fun batsman in the middle order over Sehwag.
PJ was as good as Engineer with the bat. Averages same, some big centuries in India and England too.

You could really load up the allrounders - This side needs Mudassar Nazar, Ravi Shastri, Manoj Prabhakar, Abdul Razzaq, Azhar Mahmoud, and Shahid Afridi.

Indeed he was a determined and gritty competitor, a real fighter for Sri Lanka.
His running between the wickets was a wee bit naughty though.
That is Ranatunga in mid to late 90s. Fella played cricket for a decade before that, and was very quick among wickets in his youth.
