I have McGrath over Hadlee by a small margin but I don't think I can ever be convinced to change that placement.

I have McGrath over Hadlee by a small margin but I don't think I can ever be convinced to change that placement.
Hadlee's advantages:
- Lone gun and took.enormous burden and almost singlehandedly took NZ to top tier status
- No help of scoreboard pressure to get wickets
- Roughly just as cunning and calculating as McGrath
- Likely more difficult to face in his bowling friendly conditions
- Better than McGrath in India, and McGrath was a dud in Pak and SL
- Faced generally better quality lineups including 70s Aus and 80s WI
- Doesn't have a sore spot like McGrath against SA
- In terms of skillset, had control of the outswingers and not just seam

1. His record against the second best team of his era - vs SA : Avg of 27.3 in 17 Tests.

2. One 5-Fer in 19 Tests in Asia. I do not think he can take the pitch out of the equation like Maco or Steyn

3. Average of 31 in Pak(5 Tests) and 29 in SL in 4 Tests.

Richard Hadlee has some flaws too but I rate him higher because he was a lone gun and also had to provide batting support as well

McGraths advantages:
- More spread out success across countries
- Batting era success
- Tendulkar and Lara advantages
- Height and bounce
- Undisputed best of the 2000s decade
- Massive peer rating

No. And Kapil wasn't better than Botham either.
Dude iam not baised indian fan who hates everything Pakistani. I love and respect younis wasim inzi and even imran who i rate as 2nd greatest all rounder behind sobers. I was not saying imran was some ishant sharma. He is atg but has some astrix on his record as bowler. To clear your doubt imran is thousand times a bowler then kapil was and kapil is not fit to tie imran shoelaces

Hadlee > McGrath imo
I would say they were similar, style and substance. One played in a more difficult era and less helpful pitches.so McGrath easily no. 2 for me

Neither quite had Marshall's skill set or well rounded record.

Referencing the batting support is like rating Sobers higher because he bowled 40 overs a match.

And his would have impacted his batting more than Hadlee's would have impacted his bowling.

I just think they're similar and McGrath played in flatter conditions

Think those 3 are all really close.

Donald gets no love around here.
Here's my top ten pacers in no particular order:

Wasim
Imran
Hadlee
Marshall
Ambrose
Donald
Steyn
Lillee
McGrath
Trueman

Barnes I'm not convinced was a pace bowler. Imo if Bumrah continues along his merry way, he'll definitely break into this group. He may even end up as the goat when all is said and done.
