After the big three of Hadlee, Marshall and Glenn it's a free for all. Imo, Imran would very much be in the next group around 6 or 7 or so. Definitely top ten. Anything less is just plain wrong.
I would rate Steyn alongside them. After the big three of Hadlee, Marshall and Glenn it's a free for all.
Ambrose. Donald. Akram. Imran. Holding. Garner. Lillee. And maybe even Bumrah for now.
Trueman is better than LilleeMarshall>McGrath>Hadlee>Barnes>Murali>Warne>Ambrose>Steyn>Imran>O'Reilly>Akram>Lillee>Trueman>Donald>Garner>Lindwall>Holding>Waqar>Davidson imo.
Steyn is my number 4 but with all due respect he didn't have the skillset to be up there with the top tier.I would rate Steyn alongside them.
Ambrose. Donald. Akram. Imran. Holding. Garner. Lillee. And maybe even Bumrah for now.
Yeah that's the issue with rating Barnes. After the big three it has to be Barnes, arguably, better than the big three.
Yeah he has as much of a claim for number one as anyone else, I reckon Marshall/McGrath's case is a bit stronger.Yeah that's the issue with rating Barnes.
Rated fine, he's behind the top top 5 pacers and and top 2 spinners and rated at the top of the group with Lillee, Donald, the WI duo, Wasim and Lindwall.
Really though? That's not controversial at all; in fact, that's the right choice.
Come up with something better.
All in the same grouping.Oh dear, this will be fun.
just for the record, I do see Imran as a top 15 bowler of all time, but if someone has Lillee or Holding or Donald higher, I wouldn't mind, it's very easy to see why one can come to such a conclusion.
I don't consider Barnes a pace bowler and I generally don't rate spinners and seamers together unless pushed. After the big three it has to be Barnes, arguably, better than the big three.
He was a pace bowler, Alec Bedser/Fazal Mahmood styled.I don't consider Barnes a pace bowler and I generally don't rate spinners and seamers together unless pushed.
He was a pace bowler, he himself said his style resembled Alec Bedser the most, so slow 120-130kmph but with absolutely insane cutters and swing bowling, which he used to combo and then he had the Garneresque bounce via his height. All the confusion is something Barnes made himself. To this day I don’t know what kind of bowler Sydney Barnes actually was
We had plenty of Barnes types in gully cricket. Wanted to be a real pacer but lacked pace then had a few gimmicky deliveries that the same bats always got out for.To this day I don’t know what kind of bowler Sydney Barnes actually was
Once again another mysterious early 20th century superhuman. He was a pace bowler, he himself said his style resembled Alec Bedser the most, so slow 120-130kmph but with absolutely insane cutters and swing bowling, which he used to combo and then he had the Garneresque bounce via his height.
