Is AB de Villiers an ATG?

It's that SR that is impressive....

But it probably doesn't count because he played in the batsmen friendly era so we need to subtract 30 off avg and SR to have true reflection!!

Wow.. AB's record is ridiculous. I think he's killed the WI in every World Cup he's played so far. Sangakkara also was amazing in the last World Cup.

Michael Clarke's record in WC cricket is pretty remarkable, I didn't expect that:

21 innings, average of 63, SR of 94.

Quite a few not outs, but still...

CMs compelling argument on AB has made me change my mind. WC 2019 really is make or break for him. All he needs is about 4 Gavaskar style 36 from 174 balls and to fail the rest of his innings and he will end up with a world cup record worse than Ponting's, who was himself a notorious hack in WCs. Or he could make 9 consecutive 30 ball ducks and end end up with stats similar to Jayasuriya, another famed WC non-starter.

Sally forth AB, mediocrity awaits you.

In theory, I can kind of understand taking a lot of WC stats with a grain of salt given the format the last few times. A lot of group games are, as contests, pretty facile, and also not that relevant to the broader goal of knockout qualification.

Even so, there's no basis to holding ABdV's WC record against him compared to Kohli's.

It used to be far more ridiculous, averaged in the 80s for a while in WCs.
