Picking a 15 man squad is easier than this though.

Gavaskar
Sehwag
Dravid
Tendulkar
Kohli
Pant
Kapil
Ashwin
Kumble
Zak
Bumrah

12-15:- Shami, Jadeja, VVS, Dhoni/Engineer

I think if we made separate XIs for India (home and away): Gavaskar, Dravid, Tendulkar, Kapil and Bumrah are locks for both right?
Does any of the above miss out? Does someone else make both?

Just a thought provoking question.... Do you still pick Kohli at home? Does Amarnath make the away XI?
I tend to think that unless it's a glaring technical weakness, I will pick the greater cricketer in ATG sides over the one who punched above their weight because the pressure is just so much more.

It might also be just that the conditions favour someone more right, as in the case with spinners.... Many Indian batsmen have been fabulous players of spin and have great records at home who can be argued over Kohli at home. They aren't great players because of their ability to play overseas on faster and seamier tracks.

Kohli actually has ATG numbers at Home, somehow. Mostly since he played mostly away post 2020.
