Fifty up for Sarfaraz as well. Hasn't looked as good as is partner but much better than I was thinking. Some pretty average bowling and has looked to some short stuff at his body, but Sarfaraz proving that he can play way from home

English county pitches have been very flat this year. Not a lot of rainfall probably a factor.

So a bad call at the toss by Rew with a poor bowling attack. But at same time with the green on the pitch it was probably the best time to bowl and pitch won't be much different for the second innings.

However tiredness in the field and scoreboard pressure will inevitably play it's part.

A classy ton by Nair to cement his place in the side. He prayed to God to give him another chance and here it is! Really excited to see him in the upcoming series.

Although if Sai does well in the next coming (which I'm assuming he'll play since GT are currently getting thrashed), he would be my first choice over Sarfaraz. Sarfaraz did make a good 92 but looked vulnerable at a few points, especially against short bowling at the body (and full pitched swing of course).
The thing with him is, he still technically looks to me to be a low scoring candidate quite often, but if he gets in he goes big very very easily it seems.

Yashasvi
KL
Sai
Gill
Nair
Pant

That's perfectly fine for the first Test, but Sarfaraz is the bat I would want to get in for the Worst of this bunch (Gill likely) by the 3rd or 4th Test

Think Sonny Baker is the best fast bowling prospect in the country, but he’s got a lot of question marks, particularly over his fitness
Aye was disappointed to see him and Farhan not in the side.

But no doubt Baker picked up a knock. Then how much turn will Canterbury take and gone with strength in batting with Mousley/Rehan to make up the fifth bowler. When neither particularly good red ball spinners.

Farhan looks to be the best spin prospect in the country, but it’s hard to see how he gets into the Test team at the moment with pitches not conducive to spin and with his release point not being as high as Bashir. Not the end of the world of course with him still being a literal kid, although I would like to see him get a game in the second unofficial Test as he’s now not even getting picked for Notts
