Why does anyone listen to Botham on cricket? No-one really foresaw how good Johnson was going to be but it should have been clear it would be a tough contest.
Can't answer your first question and agreed about Johnson. But anyone with a brain knew that Lord's 2013 wasn't going to be the norm, not least after Trent Bridge in the 1st test.

Should have been even funnier IMO, game was pretty much won by halfway through day 2 but somehow dragged on until nearly day 5 iirc, always felt that England never quite inflicted the psychological scars they ought to have that series, and it really hurt them on the return leg.

VVS btw

The most ludicrous thing about the 2013 series was some of the commentators opining that England would win both that series and the subsequent one in Australia 5-0 after Aus horror show at Lord's. Oh, and Aus had just been trashed in India, which obviously dictates what would happen elsewhere. Botham to the fore with that particular line of thought, iirc.
Predicting a 5-0 win in Australia is stupid at the best of times, but like Starfighter said, no one could have predicted Johnson would be that good. England even started off pretty well in Brisbane.

I'm still looking for that post where an Indian poster on here predicted Johnson would be awesome that series based on how well he seemed to be bowling in that ODI series in India. Was an excellent call. Might've been Cevno ? Not sure.

never got the fuss over bell in terms of how attractive he was supposedly to watch.

it was like someone put an mcc coaching manual through a 3d printer. lacking in any character. give me the languid, flowing brilliance of michael vaughan any day.
